aint too sure but i thought that Yoda was one of the very few people to ever best Mace in a duel. Also Luke does become extremely strong in the force and skill he mixed it up with the Emporer a lot.
hmmmm thats open to interpretation, i would have loved for Mace to have merced the Emporer but i am open to the claim that he shammed defeat in order to sway Anakin.

Are we going just by the movies? I've read a couple of the books and they clearly stated that Mace was by far the best with a light saber. Yoda's control over the force could win it out for him though.
Mace was a heck of a swordsman but i do believe Yoda was just that much better than even him. Luke as a Grandmaster was capable of deflecting blaster bolts from ATAT's [? the things that attacked Hoth]and destroying them with ease using the force. He learnt from Yoda, also from old holocrons and dead masters. He eventually becomes one of the most powerfull and skilled Jedi EVER. So IF he is a Grandmaster he is definetly taking the crown simply because he becomes the sum of thousands of years of Jedi knowledge. With Luke not a Grandmaster, from that list Yoda was the most powerful and most skilled fighter. He only lost to the Emporer because Lucas is a dumbass.

Lucas created the whole storyline. So if he thinks the Emperor is better than Yoda how does that make him a dumbass?
Its between Mace and Yoda. I am thinking Mace not only I believe was he better at combat but he h as youth on Yoda. The only reason Mace lost was cause he got double teamed.
Forever Lucas is a dumbass because he didnt know how to rap the whole saga up in a convincing way. Jedi MASTERS get nothing from Palpatine and get punked by storm trooper number 5. I mean the Jedi were running into huge battles with lasers being fired at them yet all of a sudden they move in slow motion and cant block lasers when the clones fire...poor Ki Adi. The Jedi deserved so much better than being shot by a few clones, the reaction speeds and the enhanced sensing of Jedi should mean it is next to impossible to ambush one....the best show of Jedi's yet has been the Clone Wars adventures cartoons. Lucas reduced Jedi to dudes with swords. And how does Mace beat the Emporer and Yoda not? when Yoda is superior to Mace?
Yoda, mace or luke it depends if people gang up. Qui-gon jin was also said to be a brilliant swordsman, but Mace invented his own style, and made his lightsabre more powerful. Plus there was a cool show where mace windu defeated an army without a lightsabre.
according to the offical Encyclopedia of the Star Wars Galaxy (which I own ;D). and is on my desk as we speak, Yoda is the most powerful of all the Jedi listed here. Unless they team up Yoda takes this pretty easily.
