I don't know if this has already been done, just take some time to read through the rules. Optimus prime (movie version) vs Ironman (comic book version) Optimus prime has his standard guns, dual swords and jetfire armour pack as seen somewhere later in Transformers 3. Ironman has his standard gear. Both fighters are bloodlusted No Prep time Fight takes place in Egypt Who wins?

I would have thought if it were movie ironman, Optimus would have curbstomped too easily. Should we give Optimus the Matrix of Leadership?

Which version of the matrix? Movie matrix can bring Transformers back to life and can activate the sun-harvester but that's about it. Comic matrix on the other hand possesses the power of Primus himself which is why it is able to defeat Unicron.

I think a better way to even out this battle is to find a specific armor that Iron Man has that seems as though it may be even with Optimus. The comic matrix also seems to make it a mismatch because of how powerful it is. Then again, I think he can only use it's power when it's really needed and I don't think Iron Man would be a big enough threat that the matrix's power would have to be used.

I know he can beat Optimus. In fact, I say comic Iron Man pretty much stomps movie Optimus in most armors I know of. I'm saying that he should choose an armor for Iron Man that would make this an even fight. I'm not a huge expert on Iron Man so if you know any armor that would make it an even battle, you should tell the OP. Extremis armor would stomp Optimus from what I have heard about it.

@swils94: If Optimus has the comic Matrix, then Extremis can make a good match. I don't know much about it though.

No worries. You didn't seem harsh at all. Is the extremis universal or something? Because very recently in the comics, he used the matrix to stop a being called D-Void. D-Void was trying to bring the dead universe into their universe to destroy it.

My bad, I was thinking Ironman with war machine armour. And Optimus with his jetfire armour pack, his shield and sword from his first encounter with shockwave in TF3, without the matrix, unless you reckon he needs the matrix. Not a huge expert on Ironman either as you can tell :)

@MrDirector786: Well, Extremis is very powerful. However, if that's what the matrix can do in the comics, then maybe Bleeding Edge will even everything.

@swils94: Well, I'd still give to to Tony with the War Machine armor. Although not as advanced as his latest armor, it's still very tough. That Optimus gets stomped.

What is to stop Iron Man from detonating an EMP?

His own armour may fail, but he's got the features to reboot; Optimus doesn't.

What can bleeding edge do? To be honest, I don't even think the matrix will be of any use to Optimus at all. I think the matrix can only be used if it's really necessary. There have been two instances in the current comics where he was nearly killed (once by Megatron, and another by Devastator) and yet he didn't use the matrix at all. In fact, in the instance with Devastator the Decepticons actually took it from him afterwards though Rodimus eventually stole it back and returned it. He used it against D-Void because it was the only way to stop it from bringing the dead universe into their own universe. It's also only been used to stop Unicron in both cartoons and previous comic series by Marvel and Dreamwave, and once in the cartoons to stop a hate plague from spreading everywhere. So unless Iron man's threatening to destroy the universe or something, I don't think he will even use it.

He's techno-organic I believe. I'm not sure if that makes him immune to EMPs though.

EMP's are designed to take out electrical devices in a certain area. And seeing as Optimus doesn't get short curcuit in water, it proves he doesn't run on electricity, but energon.

Well, there's no prep time for Stark, so it depends on what armor he's rocking, while movie Optimus on the other hand has a whole trailer of weapons to choose from. I dunno, I could see Optimus giving Stark some trouble, but Iron Man would most likely prevail, somehow.

Comic Prime would own in a fight to the death. But the Movie sucks badly and loses....

Comic Megatron pwned Ironman in his Transformers Buster suit and was gonna use his extremis suit as a last resort.

This is Ironman (comic book) vs Optimus Prime (movie)

vs
vs
No Caption Provided

Yes. Ironman will be in his Extremis suit

Yes. Prime has his flight tech.

The fight takes place in Egypt.

Both fighters are bloodlusted.

Optimus Prime can use the comic book version of the Matrix of Leadership

The Matrix of Leadership

By most accounts, the Matrix is a conduit for the power of Primus, the creator-god of the Transformers, serving as a means of access to the Allspark, the "afterlife" of the Transformer race, through which it can either bestow new Transformer life, or provide its wielder with a means of communicating with the deceased leaders who have come before them.

To be fair perhaps it should be movie Ironman vs movie Prime. It's definitely closer and I would give Prime the edge.

Really? Marvels continuity? Or dreamwave? From what ive seen, their tech surpasses his, and his fighting skills are really good, with an edurance to boot. But, i encourage someone to prove me wrong please.

Iron Man is often downplayed...he is very much up there in terms of Thor level strength, he can fire repulsor blasts with thought speed and has moved through the air fast enough to impress Sentry, and thats not even mentioning his arsenal....I'm not saying Optimus is a push over but I don't see any means Optimus has to beat him

The how advanced the tech is does not really matter too much. Bumblebee was easily killed by normal military in the Marvel comic continuity.

Most transformers have ability of technopathy... But other than that, Optimus wrestles down with megatron on whats seems to be a daily basis, who's own strength has allowed him to hold back an entire punch from Devastator. His strength is pretty good as well.

Well... Seeing as how no transformers continuity has been officially named canon or not, (which is a shame really, with all their alternate futures, and parallel universes) what is mostly used is whats current... Moreso namely IDW continuity.

Each comic series is canon to itself. The largest continuity is G1 and G2 as together it spans a wide range of stories and well over 100 issues.

@nickthedevil:

Yeah the American G1 ran for 80 issues and G2 for 12. The UK version has both in one volume and goes on for 332 issues. So quite a bit more is in the greater UK continuity.
