@jwwprod: What guardsmen are u using? Which ever u pick decides how they will operate as a whole from using tanks to light artilley, etc.

Predator Tanks can be upgraded to Railguns for hilariously more hitting power, and this is keeping in mind that they use 155mm rounds normally, now keep in mind that we use 120-125mms for tanks these days as generally there's nothing a tank should be shooting at that needs a shell bigger than that. Tank designers generally like to use the smallest shell they can get away with so that you can store more of them in any given tank, so logically GDI's designers felt that armor had advanced far enough to make artillery grade shells as standard issue, with the option to fit big ass railguns if somehow that's insufficient.

Generally, a direct fire weapon's line of sight is limited to about 2-3 kilometers no matter how far the shell can actually travel due to there generally always being some kind of terrain to get in the way. Hence why modern tanks haven't had an appreciable increase in effective range in decades. Going by this, even though the Predator uses a bigger shell than the Abrams, there's no reason to assume it has more range unless the shells can magically curve over obstacles.

The Leman Russ probably also has about the same effective range assuming it's the Battle Tank or Vanquisher equivalents.

Railgun predators are comparatively far easier to come by then Vanquisher Russes, so in terms of pure tank killers GDI can just have more dedicated vehicles.

Don't know many many GDI much, but I will give him the win.

Why ? The Imperial Guard tactically suck.tactically. I mean, the guys are too foten using human wave. Sure, there's IG regiments that don't, but many still are and are using barely trained savage, and even those have problem of formation. So the overall quality of the troopers is too variable to be worth something.

The Karskin are a LOT better, there too few of them, and GDI seems to have their own elite troop.

But don't say what I've don't. The fight will be bloody and GDI won't be winning unscathed.

@xaos: You say Karskins are a 'LOT' better... but... the only regiments... that have Karskins are the Cadians. Cadians are some of the finest Imperial Guardsmen in the Imperium and that is the regiment he is using.

Again, only Cadians get Karskins. Normal Regiments get Storm Troopers.

Can't believe I missed this thread lol.

1142 Imperial Guardsmen = 1200 Riflemen. (both have weapons that can shred each other to bits)

180 Kasrkins < 150 Zone troopers (Rail guns are sick but ultimately a close pairing due to zone troopers weakness to Heat based weapons)

70 Ogryns < 50 Zone Raiders (raiders are more versatile and can lay waste to enemy tanks which I value more then damage soak/melee of Ogryns)

20 Tauros's. > 20 CC-6 Pitbulls. (Tauros can be equiped with a wider range of weapons/more versiatal though the pitbulls can shoot up... thats important.

i'll be back /savestate.

10 Sentinels < 10 Wolverines (Assuming the sentinel is equipped with an multi-lazer the pilot would still get shoot in the face via small arms... sentinels are dumb.)

40 Leman Russ Battle Tanks > 40 MBT-6 Predator (While I really want to argue for the punchier more practical Predator tanks... Leman Russ battle tanks have some silly feats and will have a bigger effect on the battle with side armaments.)

25 Macharius < 25 Mammoth tanks (Mammoth Tanks are silly OP.)

6 Marauder Bombers >> 6 A-15 Orcas (The Orca is slower and has less ordinance.

6 Marauder Bombers > 6 Hammerheads (Marauder faster more ordinance The hammerheads have more utility as a transport though.)

as for who wins a majority probably the imperial guard because of the difference in air support.
