Going with Stone Cold Steve Austin... dude was More Gangsta than Hulkster.
the only wrestler to open a can of whoop ass then open a can of beer

ha ha... yes indeed.
Both wrestlers are quite similar from what I know of them, both are/or were good technical wrestlers, great you could say even but due to certain reasons they had to degrade their ring style to the crap they are famous for putting out. I believe Hulk degraded to save himself from injuries as he was THE big name of wrestling at the time while Austin did due to sustaining an injury (the pile driver injury I think)
If we take both against each other as they are specified then Austin likely wins as he always struck me as the more effective fighter.
However if Hulk is allowed to go all out and do more then the 4 basic moves he sticks to in America then Austin doesn't stand a chance as he can't up his game due to his injury.
hulk hogan is a terrible wrestler. the only things he had were size, mic skill and a push. no technical ability what so ever

Just look at his time in Japan to see how wrong you are.
Whoever McMahon wants to.
hahahahahaha so very true...

Stone Cold
But lost to John Cena

But pro wrestling is just pretend fighting, not real like comic books.

True... but it's obvious the OP is talking about the Hulk Hogan we know from the WWF.
considering austin was once booked to beat about 30 people or so in like 5 seconds in 2001,kayfabe wise nobody can beat him
but in terms of star power i think hogan, austin and the rock are on the same level
Stone cold wins in every category and you know why?
Seriously tho Stone Cold broke his neck in the ring vs Owen Hart and FINISH the match.
Hulk in real life fight in his prime would have been slaughtered.
I wonder if anyone else realizes wrestling is the most plot induced thing ever...
i never like going to see a movie with someone who constantly repeats oh that scene is fake, aw that looks so fake, fake fake fake fake. it doesnt make it fun bro

I didn't say fake. :/ I just said it's plot induced. Meaning, even if all stats and evidence proves that Hogan would win, Steve Austin could/would still win based on the plot... or should I say pre-determined.
But yes, it's fake. I'm just not one of those who says it all the time.

Prime is what is specified and during what people would consider Hulk's prime he could still do all the moves he could do in Japan (he just didn't need to due to it being America). Think of a guy like Kane who sticks to a lot of "big" moves that take little in the way of skill...and then he hits some guy with a hurricanrana (a cruiser weight move!) and you see there is far more to him. Hulk is like that.
Austin's prime was when he was injured so he can't pull off anything technical.

Well actually the OP says that it's Hulk Hogan from the 1980's and I see in the Image a Hulk Hogan from the WWF... so I see no reason to use the Hulk Hogan of Japan here with that skill set. We are specifically talking about The Yellow and Red Hulkster from the WWF against The Rattlesnake of the WWF / WWE, at least based on what the OP is showing.

I see that but I'll throw my vote towards Hulk anyhow for the reasons stated.
could austin even hurt hogan when he starts hulking up
No as Hogan becomes invincible when he hulks up. To make things worse Hogan's Leg Drop is upgraded to the point that no one can survive it.
I remember when he hit the Rock with the legdrop and Rocky almost flew into the air (Rock loves to sell finishers).
Hogan.
80's Hogan didn't job for anybody. 90's Austin actually did, and in fact didn't become a star until his high profile loss to Bret Hart.
