Hancock may posses superman's level of powers, but he has not shown that in the movie. I personally believe that, as a god who has forgotten most of what he is supposed to be able to do, he probably has a wide range of powers, such as the ones demonstrated by charlize theron, but doesnt remember how to use them. His durability strength and speed may be all on god levels, but they have never been tested on earth. This is all speculation though. in the movie he does not show the feats that even movie superman does, which i think is significantly less powerful than comic superman.
To say that hancock is indestructible is speculation. We know he cannot be hurt by a speeding train. that is the greatest feat in the movie. It is highly unlikely that he was part of any feat more impressive than this, other than a building collapsing on him. There is no indication that he was anywhere near the nukes dropped in war, or tested around the globe, so we don't know if he would survive a blast of that magnitude. I think he would, but that is speculation. I could be wrong about that so i would not use that level of durability when considering him agaisnt superman.
So basically. While Hancock MAY be able to take this kind of damage and deal it out in kind, superman CAN and HAS done these things many times over.
Until some future Hancock 2 proves otherwise, Superman has the better showings and should win this fight.
To be fair, while Superman has more impressive showings than Hancock, he also was lower showings. Hancock simply doesn't get hurt from anything when he's apart from his soulmate.
Also I think the last fight scene tells us a lot. The speed of his invulnerability is pretty impressive. While fatally wounded, he jumped out of a building and his invulnerability already kicked in. He was super leaping shortly after.
No question. I like Hancock much more than i like superman. I have to see more out of him before i give this fight to him. I personally think his potential is greater than superman's but i havent seen it, and the creator of the character has not said, so far as i know, that his power reaches these kinds of levels. When that happens i will gladly come on here and say Hancock beats superman.
SM shaters planets with punches can you show me where hancock is shown to be able to take that much damage ? No feats=he can't do it=SM wins with 1 punch

Not quite true. It states that he was from a race of gods (the Indian pantheon I believe) Their legends of battles between the Gods makes Star Wars and the JLA look like plagerists. Now I know Hancock hasn't shown feats yet, but it was only one movie. If they named which God he is then we could compare the legends.

say what ? how can you compare anything ? there isnt enough info of the character to say what he has done yet...
I'm going with Inconclusive. Assuming Hancock can beat superman or vice versa seems to be like jumping to conclusion without the full info on both characters. Wait till the next Hancock movie comes out and then we'll talk.
PS. Why the F. did they dress Hancock up like an X-man in the end.
