Hagrid was more than just a big guy. He was half-giant, he was a magical creature and had enhanced strength and durability proportionate to his size that reflected that. When the Ministry raided Hogwarts their stupefies literally did not affect him, he took dozens of them and it did nothing. Hodor, while I love him to death, is just a guy at the end of the day. A big guy, but a guy. Hagrid is a mythical humanoid creature.

Hagrid... he's also trained in taming dangerous magical creatures who could kill Hodor in an instant!!
