I can barely remember what Gwen could do at the end of the original show...I think she had pretty decent magic showings, but Catwoman can probably get to her and knock her out before she can cast a spell.
@The Stegman: Yeah, thought so, the spells take a bit of time since she only knows a few from memory and has to carry around her book, Catwoman is fast, so to make it fair let's say they start at a considerable distance, so Gwen has time to at least get her book out.
@Deranged Midget: I think she had a bit of magic in the original show, she recited spells from a book, but she didn't do any advanced stuff i.e involving mana or anything until the later series.
