I'm picking Venom, but certaintly not in curbstomp fashion. Green Goblin can shoot fire from his glider and has those pumpkin bombs that can cause fiery-like explosions. The symbiote is vulnerable to fire, so I see this being a highly-competitive match.

venom i'm thinking since goblin couldnt really take spidey ...

but with prep goblin could pull it off...

Dude, seriously. Give us something more to go on.
Prep time? Gear? Which Venom host? Which Green Goblin? Conditions of victory? Arena?

Details are the only thing that could keep this thread from being worthless.

My bad. Eddie Brock is the host.......... Takes place in NYCrooftops  with plenty of glider room......... Norman Osborn Gobby (What did u expect, Phil Urich)?

Are they both current versions? What about prep time? Are they bloodlusted or no?

Venom is only powerfull in close combat. Goblin has a glider with a machine gun (in the spider man movie) bombs with a fiery xplosion that killd the symbiote in spider man 3 and flying knives!

Goblin might just pull this off...

Sonics or Fire

I'm sure Gobbie with a little prep can own this

The set up gives a great advantage to GG. Since the OP gives no flying barrier, GG can take his distance and shoot at Venom from long range, while having time and space to dodge any counter-attacks. Considering that the symbiote's weaknesses are heat & sonic sounds, and that GG has used both types of weaponry before, it is certain he could exploit those weak spots, slowing Venom down, and eventually defeating him. And since both combatants are not bloodlusted, Norman's highly competitive and ruthless nature is an additional edge here. But it is the nonexistant flying barrier, that turns this into a one sided battle.

Can we please stop saying the freaking symbiote is going to bond with every jobber who walks by?

What is the flight limit on the glider? Some vehicles cant maek it past certain altitudes. IF we are talking manhattan then venom could potentially reach any height that GG reaches.

Without prep i would give this to venom. He is more powerful than Goblin, physically and his tendrils could nutralize range advantage of up to thirty feet or so. It is not often that you see these gliders take aim at distances much greater than this, or toss pumkin bombs. venom should be able to close the distance.

If GG had some prep time he could rig up some kind of sonic trap to get the jump on Venom and nutralize him without gettin into much of a fight.

head to head venom 8/10

prep time Goblin 9/10

Green Goblin with prep

#20 Edited by 12marvel12 (995 posts) - - Show Bio

green goblin would win with or without prep.... and whoever sed goblin couldnt really beat spidey is an idiot... he was the only villain who had MULTIPLE chances of killing spiderman but didnt because he pittied him so much... but thats beside the point.  goblin would beat venom because venom is weak to sound and fire and the goblin could produce both of those plus he has the maniac smartness and sinister that venom lacks...  one last thing, most poeple dont realize the fact that gobie also has strentgth and reflexes that matches spidermans which means he is almost as strong as venom, has the same reflexes, and has a lot of ranged weapons... green goblin wins but not in a curbstomp just because venom hangs in there much like spiderman

Goblin

Gut says Venom, but the arguments for Goblin are well thought out and convincing.

#23 Edited by MrDirector786 (43392 posts) - - Show Bio

I say Goblin because he can attack from a range and his bombs will generate heat when they explode which will weaken Venom. Plus, Goblin is smarter.

Venom.

If Spider Man can catch goblin on his glider so can Venom.

#27 Posted by ChaosBlazer (3930 posts) - - Show Bio

Venom should win

Fire is a weakness but when has fire really taken Venom out? I remember a scan of Venom fighting SPiderman and Human Torch at the same time, he managed to grab Torch and dunk him in the ocean, drowning him until Spiderman helped out.

#28 Posted by Sparky_BW (205 posts) - - Show Bio

Could go either way but I will say Green Goblin.

A random encounter, Eddie Brock will win it.

Prep, the Green Goblin.

Honestly, I think Brock would take a hefty majority over Norman in a random encounter.

I say Venom 6/10, Prep or No Prep. The Goblin can have as much glider room as he can ever want it won't make any difference,Venom can reach him and when he does judgement for Osborn!!!! Most of the time it won't matter if Osborn knows his weakness, who doesn't know The symbiotes weakness? it's Brock's will power and overwhelming physical prowess that will make Brock the superior combatant here, also the symbiote provides Brock with stealth which would cause many problems for our quite open and visible friend,I can see Goblin being attacked from unknown locations by hurling objects or even his own devices that could easily be thrown backat him. This will just be amusing for brock until Venom eventually gets his paws on him and GAMEOVER......FATALITY!!!!!! VENOM WINS!!!!!..........If this was Gargan Venom, Then I would say,Goblin 7/10 times prep or no Prep, but Eddie Brock is not only cunning he is Very Vicious and just as deranged as Osborn.

#36 Posted by deaditegonzo (3624 posts) - - Show Bio

If this is Brock's Venom, its a stomp no matter what. Goblin would be utterly outclassed and totally screwed. I have pretty much everyone of his appearances, and basically after McFarlane, his power became insane. Throughout the 90's he was a mess, but a really fun one to read.

To give you an idea, he stalemated Juggs, beat Dan Ketch and Johnny Blaze together, crawled out of a black hole towing Wolverine, etc. Eddie Brocks Venom is basically unrivaled.

green goblin wud win

.

goblin tech is great but its not like tony stark tech this fight could be like over soo fast for goblin its not funny however it would take a lot of grueling time for goblin to disable vemon and vemon is known for reaching out his tendrils and pimp slapping you the very last minute ... also in no prep fight norman's gensius would not be any kind of a factor bc he does not fight very smartly but vemon does .. vemon tricked spiderman into locking himself in a scientific hazardous room

#41 Posted by Dominodalek (20 posts) - - Show Bio

It'd be a tough match, but I think Norman would win, because of the bombs and glider. He could use the glider to get out of reach, and throw the bombs. Venom was killed by one of the bombs in Spider-Man 3, after all. He also has the machine gun on the glider, his Razor-Bats, and I believe in the movie he also gained super strength and some speed from the goblin formula. If Venom could get rid of the glider through, Venom might be able to win it. But if Goblin keeps the Glider, he should win.

Is venom weak against fire?

#43 Posted by Dominodalek (20 posts) - - Show Bio
#44 Posted by FrozenPhoenix (1722 posts) - - Show Bio

@dominodalek: Yeah but without prep, Norman would only have fire.

#45 Posted by Dominodalek (20 posts) - - Show Bio

No one's saying he needs both though. His bombs should be good enough, although if the glider was out of the equation, Venom might be able to stop Norman from using them as well as he can with the glider.

Norman wins but not with ease. Venom is almost immune to physicall damage but Gobie got alot of fiery stuffs to go with
