vs.
- Black Panther

- Gotham City. (unpopulated)
- Start 50 feet apart.
- Rules:
- In character.
- Random encounter.
- Standard equipment.
- Standard elimination rules apply.
- Pre-Doomwar BP.
- Gorgon (Tomi)
Oh geeze...tough, lol. Good matchup
I'm tempted to say Tomi due to his speed (him tagging that speedster being the biggest example I've heard of) and limited tp. But T'challa should still be quick enough to not be full out blitzed (and I think there was some debate on that speedster being in the air or something, making Tomi tagging them a bit easier?) and him knowing how to deflect/advert oncoming strikes in his armor should be useful as well...and it just feels wrong to go against BP.
I need to see some more points before I can choose...lol.
i agree that this will be difficult for BP, but think he can pull it off. mostly due to higher intelligence and resourcefulness
Going with the dude who one shot Wolverine.
Despite being himself one shotted by Daredevil. I mean, which street leveler hasn't been one shotted by DD?
Seems to be a right of passage.
Gorgon gets my vote. T'Challa is damn good and equipped with some great gear, but Gorgon just appears to be on a whole different level. The powers, the skill, the speed, the healing factor... IMHO T'Challa gives it his all, but I don't see him holding any critical advantages here.

I'm not sure this is true, but I'm of two minds about it. I know Gorgon is supposed to be a genius, but I can't recall examples of intelligence and how he would use it in this fight. If it's not just unsubstantiated hype, I think he'd be smarter than BP. Plus his telepathy might make some of BP's strategery a weakness.

Regarding intellect, he was able to prove God exists at the age of 13.
But honestly @cosmicallyaware1:, I don't see how a slight edge in intellect (if there is one) would compensate for Gorgon's numerous advantages in a random encounter. Could it allow him to take a win or two? It's possible, but I don't see anything that would change the overall outcome for a majority.
@k4tzm4n: I knew there was some generic child prodigy list of feats for Gorgon, and not to downplay those, but are there current feats? Things where he pits his intelligence against others or demonstrates it in some context that would be relevant to a battle? Like you mentioned, I'm not sure it would impact the fight much either way, but I'm curious.
Funny/not-funny aside: He failed at suicide twice? How smart can he be?

No idea, but like you said, I don't see how it would hold much relevance to the battle itself.
I thought the same at first and laughed at it, but I'm sure that was just Millar's way of pointing out his healing factor made such a task impossible. Then again, he had no trouble killing himself to prove his dedication to the Hand (I don't recall if he had a special blade at the time). Go figure.

Nice!
still feel that BP edges this one out. He has more experience in dealing w/ opponents that may possibly be more versitile or powerful than him.

I don't see him capable of doing anything in a random encounter to compensate for Gorgon's skill, speed, reflexes and healing factor.

To be fair, there's really no street-leveler that T'Challa has fought in a random encounter that as versatile as Gorgon is.
@Static Shock: truthfully, you are correct.
@k4tzm4n: yeah, the more I think about it now...... you are right about that.
however as far as BP's speed goes he was fast enough to do this:
as far as skill goes, well......
ridiculous, i know..... but it illustrates a point.
as far as dealing w/ Gorgon's healing factor........well.........

Mcduffie confirmed that silver surfer allowed black panther to contain him. Silver surfer could have escaped.
@Static Shock: yeah, he sure does..... i couldn't find any other scans in my folder that were very impressive, and too lazy to go through any of my comics to find a better one!

I've got some. You can add these to your folder if you want.

@Buckshot: Shishido was also pretty dismissive of Reed Richards' intellect, but he doesn't have many (I actually can't remember any) intelligence feats relevant to a combat situation. His stats are usually enough.
I don't think he was dismissive of Richards intellect at all. In the enemy of the state arc he even questioned the nature of his intelligence, assuming it was the effect of a mutation. He was surprised when Elisbeth Von Strucker assured him that Reed was just a gifted individual.
As for the fight I'd say Gorgon.

@TheWitchingHour: Once he was told that Reed was simply gifted, he compared Reed and his intellect to a parrot learning a few words or a monkey learning a difficult trick. Sounds dismissive to me.
That sounds defensive and insecure to me. He just learned that a lower class of being (homo sapien) could do something as well as or better than he could. So the obvious reaction from someone with an ego like Tomi's would be to ridicule them.

I don't really disagree with this point of view; mostly because I don't believe Tomi was ever as smart as Reed has shown himself to be.
No, he's not.So BP is fighting a dude who is at least his physical equal in every stat

yes, he is.
Gorgon has a pretty significant edge in speed and healing. Plus a weapon that couldn't care less about T'Challa's armor.
Exactly. you also said Tomi is 2-tonner. Herb enhanced Tchalla is a 2-tonner also? I thought he was 1/2 ton.

1/2 ton? Really?

@K4tz..T'Challa has no physical advantages over Tomi to my knowledge.
Maybe I misread your post. I thought you implying T'Challa is even in some physical fields. I can understand strength possibly (since it's pre-current T'Challa), but IMHO Gorgon has him pretty firmly outclassed in speed, reflexes and even durability (courtesy of that healing factor).
