" LOL. IIRC, Gladiator made it look easy the first time. "Indeed. That was also a future Gladiator who wanted to prevent Thor from becoming Earth's ruler, IIRC. Didn't seem to be any different, or more powerful than the regular version, though.
I agree. There was an earlier fight before that, and I think Gladiator did well in that one too.
The funny thing about that showing is that there was a Thor fanboy around here about two years ago that claimed Thor didn't lose the first battle. Even after I posted scans of Thor getting demolished left and right, and then being KO'ed to the point where he was turned back into Donald Blake, he was still saying that Thor didn't lose.

A sight to behold, I'm certain.
One of the odd things about their first fight is how easily Gladiator disposed of Mjolnir, which effectively tipped the balance in his favour.
" @Morpheus_: Indeed. I believe he blitzed him and kicked it out of his hand like it was nothing. "If memory serves right he used some debris as a distraction, but he did utilize his speed in order to throw Mjolnir away before Thor could prevent him.
I have the issue, give me a minute.
Worth noting is that Thor did defeat Gladiator an issue afterwards, upon saying he would hold back no longer, however, there were two notable distractions; i) Thor Girl, who, despite being defeated by Gladiator gave Thor time to recuperate and retrieve Mjolnir, and, ii) a falling airplane, that Thor, and Gladiator cooperated with one another to save.
Not that the God of Thunder cannot beat Gladiator otherwise, just felt like giving the full picture from their fights that I have seen.
Actually reading the full issue (which i also have), Thor changed back to Masterson as a result of the 60 second rule (which i am not going to explain here)
I'm not sure the rule still holds today but without that rule, i don't see Gladiator beating him.
Thor, Thor now in comparison to classic Thor is a lot stronger. As Donald Blake, having a mortal form made him weaker. To top it off, Thor usually holds back as he fights and goes in a lot of the time as a brawler instead of unleashing what he's truly capable of. Gladiator is faster than Thor but I have a theory about reaction time vs speed. Sentry tried to Blitz Thor and Thor was capable of reacting fact enough to stop him.. he also is capable of throwing Mjolnir 2x the speed of light.. meaning he can perceive an object moving that fast.. he himself is just not capable of achieving those speed.. he however can react and defend. In both scenarios, Thor wins. A bit rougher than without WM but still I think he pulls the win out here 8/10 However this is Marvel here., so really logic (at least in terms of comics) gets thrown out the window and either can be written to win. Power/stat/showing wise. Thor should win
round one goes to gladiator. The way gladiator's powers work could potentially make him invincible so who knows what full potential glads can do.
Round two goes to thor. thor just because he has many more feats and could make glads doubt himself.
