And they are less than sufficient.

I know how the Penance Stare works. It failed to affect Deadpool (with Thanos' influence), Zodiac, a few drug addicts, and an alien symbiote, NONE of which are even close to Surtur in power.

Hmm....what does surtur have that can put a GR down? I guess surtur could BFR him...but that's about it. Without a holy weapon...I dnt see surtur doing enough damage to the rider to be considered life threatening

Surtur could turn the Rider into stone with the Twilight Sword, nearly the same way Zarathos was turned into stone by the Justiciar.

A full-powered Surtur (with his sword) has the potential to altar reality and rip inter-dimensional portals through space, none of which makes the battle look good for GR.

It's basically Zarathos vs Surtur , I am siding with Zarathos on this one , Surtur has no way to put him down.

@ghostrider2: Surtur would Stomp zarthos himself let alone GR. I like GR but he ain't beating a skyfather threat who can casually destroy galaxies and own every hell lord with ease

So what level is Zarathos

In regard to the Thor vs Ghost Rider debate happening Ghost Rider took on Thor, Doctor Strange, Scarlett Witch, Satana, Swamp Thing, Wolverine, Captain America, and others (while having penance stare like effects across the city) and was beating them until Rogue stole Zarathos from him at which point she immediately pleaded for him to take it back.

As for Surtur the Penance Stare is an obvious factor to consider which could very well work on him but also hellfire which although would likely have no effect as far as typical fire effects go given Surtur is a fire demon it should however perform its other function of burning the soul just fine. Don’t get me wrong Surtur is incredibly powerful but I do (or perhaps would like to) think it is in the realm of possibility for GR to beat Surtur although it isnt guranteed and the probability likely drops markedly if you give Surtur his Sword and the eternal flame. Were this to happen it would certainly be GR’s greatest feat to date.

Ghost Rider can't pull this off.
