But she was holding back she didn't want to kill him if she wanted to I think she could easily kill Jamie even in his prime.

@killerforhire: Prime Jaime stomps all but a very select few warriors in the entirety of the series, and, as stated before, a starving, manacled Jaime fresh from sitting in a stockade for a year was pressing Brienne badly. Brienne won due to her greater physical strength ( not swordsmanship, mind you) and better condition, and simply outlasted him.

Back on the subject, we have the Hound and Brienne. Both are bruisers with impressive feats, as Brienne's aforementioned duel with Jaime and her triumph over Loras give her good standing. However, Sandor has a much longer and bloodier track record, Andes able to go toe to to with his brother, whose attributes are nothing short of inhuman. It's a good fight, but Sandor eventually overpowers her.

@killerforhire: no, just no. In the books it was even said that had Jaime been unshackled, he could have easily killed her. Don't confuse the books with the show.

Jaime in his prime is basically peerless in this series as Barristan is old and Dayne is dead.

Ok I stand corrected but we're getting off track it's her vs. the Hound not Jamie

Hound quickly overpowers her with sheer strength. Brienne is a skilled fighter, but a lot of her victories come from out muscling her opponents. She isn't doing that to a Clegane.

Its hard to tell. Hounds advantage is his dirty fight so he would win probably thought I am not sure.

The Hound is arguably the best in the ASoIaF series, even if Jaime is stated as the best swordsman, he cant compete with Sandors mix of experience, strength, reach and skill. Sandor hands down.

@thanofleeze: Yea, totally. And coldness. Brienne may hesitate a bit while Sandor wont even a hint. And comapred to other famous GoT swordsman, The Hound allways goes for the kill and does no fancy attacks to demonstrate his superiority like Jaime.

@linark: @linark: Jaime beats the Hound. GRRM has said that Jaime is the top of his generation.

Also your next post is untrue. The Hound showed to hold back in battle against Gregor. Jaime rarely holds back. The only time we truly see him show off his skill and hold back is against Brienne. In battle Jaime showed to be more deadly than anyone.

@bigcimmerian: not even close. Stop judging by the show. Judge by the books and words of GRRM. Mountain is simply not on that level.

Mountain really is great at terrorizing people, in single combat he leaves a lot to be desired.

Judging by the books then shouldn't Khal Drogo be above Jaimie in combat?

@cregan_stark: I said brienne is the one holding down. Jaime is more of a looker that tries to flourish himself while fighting to show his superiority. Sandor just goes for the kill, against Gregor why he would go for the kill when the king and half of the realms nobility is looking?. Besides, GRRM never said that, its only stated that Jaime is aSoIaF most prominent swordsman. That doesnt mean he is the most lethal fighter. Besides, theres not a single statement in the books that says theres a better fighter. They talk about the best there are, not about a particular one above else.

@bigcimmerian: no not really. The Dothraki have neither the weaponry or experience to kill well trained knights. It should be a good fight with Drogo winning if they're unarmored but Jaime in full armor Drogo has no chance.

@linark: I saw what you said and I'm saying you're wrong. In the books Jaime is much more lethal in battle cutting men down left and right. GRRM has actually said on several occasions that Jaime is top dog, read SSM. Also there are many references in the books.

@cregan_stark: Ive read all books, and ill say it again: they said Jaime is WESTEROS (not the whole world) best swordsman. Swordsman in westeros. And its basically an opinion from certain characters, theres no canonical statement that says he is the most lethal fighter. Vardis Egen is Eyrie's guard captain and a trained swordsman knight and still got owned by Bronn, who is a ruthless mercenary that fights using unconventional swordsmanship. Swordsmanship DOESNT mean best fighter. And in the books Jaime is only stated by certain characters like the best swordsman.

And still, show me when has GRRM said Jaime was GoT strongest fighter.

Sandor is ruthless, skilled as hell (Jaime may be more skilled, but theres not that much diference), has more experience, reach, height and strength. IMO Sandor beats Brienne and Jaime. Obviouslly not in a 2 vs 1.

Prime Barristan Selmy, Arthur Dayne, Daemon Blackfyre, Aemon the Dragon Knight, Robert Baratheon, Gwayne Corbray and Cregan Stark would all own Jaime or the Hound.

The Hound wins here.

@penderor: I said that because he told me there were many references on the book, chill dude. And no, Oberyn wouldnt necesarily kill Hound. Oberyn is the fast type, but this isnt manga or a comic. aSoIaF series try to be realistic, and in real life fighters with reach and strength normally win against fast and agile enemies, giving they both have similar skill and experience. And in this case, Sandor has more experience and equal skill than oberyn.
