@redbull:
Was it the secondary mutation that did it? Also, please explain your reason as stated in the OP.

Basically, Jean to me was always a pushover early on - but after Phoenix in general, even without the force, she's just too much of a powerhouse for Gambit to really hurt. I mean, Jean could just hold Gambit up in the air from a mile away and never even try to engage him. She could hold him up there subconsciously for the rest of her life. Psylocke uses all of her telepathy to keep Shadow King (10x more dangerous than Gambit) locked away... so Jean literally has to exert 1% of her power to leave Gambit dangling like an infantile retard in the sky for all time.

I would say Jean. She can block Gambit's attacks with her telekinesis and control him. Or she could easily use her telepathy to destroy him.

From what I read based on her power set and secondary mutation and jeans feats she will win. She can attack Gambit from a distance. Take him apart. It will get ugly. I think that if he was empowered like New Sun then it would be a different fight though.

What if this was the Gambit that could charge up living tissue by just looking at them?

Didn't he blow up the whole planet, lol.

Yeah that was an alternate universe Gambit, the New Sun. He was a beast.
