Colossus can control himself yet he gets thoroughly stomped vs Magneto considering Magneto can control him.

Gaaras ability is specifically to control sand, and sandman is made of sand. I dont see why this isnt spite against Sandman.

@deathbyants: But he uses a lot more chakra to control external sand, whereas his Chakra-infused sand (the sand in his gourd) is easier to control and is a lot smaller. Sandman has no trouble doing this. He could easily summon all the sand in the sahara desert. If Gaara did this it would drain a lot of his Chakra.

That is the worst analogy - if you're gonna compare them, compare them to Pyro and the Human Torch. Unless Gaara can isolate the sand particle containing his conscious mind, which is no easy feat, and I highly doubt Gaara can figure that out on his own. The fight is gonna be a marathon, and I don't see Gaara winning this one with his limited chaakra and with no wealth of reserves to call upon (jinchūriki).

Johnny Storm isn't made out fire..so that analogy isn't much better. An accurate one would be Poison Ivy and Swamp Thing.

Anyway, Gaara should win. He's shown a greater control over sand than Sandman. Also..Gaara doesn't have trouble manipulating sand that isn't infused with his own chakra. He pretty much stated the opposite when he fought Kimimaro. It just takes more effort, but not much at all.

That analogy hurts your argument. By body composition then, Swampthing is like Sandman?

I'm not gonna fall into the whole shtick of who can control who's sand, the argument will go in circles cause the whole thing is a fallacy of hasty generalization. Anyway the burden of proof is on you if Gaara can decisively control sentient sand body or body of sand or whatever that can control sand without chakra.

Gaara managed to manipulate enough external sand to cover an area bigger than a city block and several meters deep without even uncrossing his arms. He is Sandman's worst nightmare.

Not like Sandman has shown control of the largest body of sand in the world or anything </sarcasm>

Gaara's sand is much lighter than it used to be so he has to exert less chakra so he'll just throw his sand in sandman and control him
