He would defeat Cooler, since Cooler (even in his 5th state is only barely stronger than Frieza). He would lose to Metal Cooler though. Hard. Like really hard.

metal cooler is seriously diffucult, he can adpat, create multiple of army of themselve, up to millions, and the only way Goku and Vegeta won was because cooler try to absorb their power which backfired miserably. Unless he have prep to find out the source of cooler power he lose in a heroic death or win due to meta cooler idiocity of trying to absorb his power when they are already stronger than them.

Meta Cooler is not a hard fight for Trunks but a utter curb stomp in Cooler's favour. Do people forget that Meta Cooler can fight at instant speed?

Cell and Goku already commented that going Ultra SSJ would definitely bring more power but will drastically lower one's speed. IIRC, Cell said that Trunks in USSJ form might be able to defeat him, but the question is, will Trunks hit.

Cell also committed that mistake when he fought SSJ2 Gohan.

Back to topic, Abocado, already stated that speed will be reduced in Ultra Super Saiyan 1 form, what he did not explain is how much. When he has attacking Cell (PF), he is not showing any speed at all.

As for Metal Cooler, Trunks need to figure out that the real Cooler is somewhere to win.

FIRST SCENARIO: Future Trunks DOES NOT know about the Big Gheti Star's identity, whereabouts or weaknesses:

Trunks Saga SSJ Future Trunks: gets easily and totally humiliated by Final Form Cooler;

Androids Saga SSJ Future Trunks: way above Final Form Cooler, slightly above initial Metacooler, but after destroying 1 or 2 clones, SSJ Future Trunks is finished;

Cell Saga Future Trunks (Post ROSAT 1): Base Future Trunks would be slightly weaker than Final Form Cooler, SSJ Future Trunks would be around equal to Semi-Perfect Cell and easily dominates the first few, if not dozens of initial Metacooler clone units, after that Future Trunks eventually loses, even in ASSJ and USSJ forms;

Cell Games Future Trunks (Post ROSAT 2): Base Future Trunks would be superior to initial Metacooler, and slightly stronger even than his Androids Saga SSJ self, and would thus kill off a few before being forced to become a SSJ, kills off a whole bunch, will be forced to turn USSJ, will kill off another few clones before getting killed himself in the end.

Imperfect Cell Kill Future Trunks (3 years after Cell Games): Base Future Trunks is far superior to an initial metacooler clone, will kill off a whole bunch, will then be forced to turn SSJ, will kill off another shitload of clones, will finally be forced to turn USSJ, will kill off another few clones and will, once again, still die in the end.

SECOND SCENARIO: Future Trunks DOES know everything there is to know about the Big Gheti Star:

Trunks Saga SSJ Future Trunks: same outcome as in scenario 1;

Androids Saga SSJ Trunks: with luck, he gets to the Big Gheti Star's main computer in time (the 'Cooler leftover head' that is linked to the Big Gheti Star), and destroys the whole Big Gheti Star as a SSJ with at least mediocre or slight difficulty. If not lucky, the clones will make sure he won't get anywhere near the BGS's central computer and will swarm him to death in the end;

Cell Saga Future Trunks (Post ROSAT 1): Base Trunks will immediately be forced to turn SSJ (otherwise he instantly dies), and since his power is now equal to Semi-Perfect Cell or so, he now has enough power to destroy the entire Big Gheti Star all at once with one gigantic ki blast. However, he must not hesitate, there's at least well over 100 billion clones inside the BGS, so they could always shoot a combined ki blast at Trunks, which would still most likely kill him (in a similar way that FPSSJ Goku, FPSSJ Gohan, ASSJ Trunks, ASSJ Vegeta and Piccolo (Post ROSAT) killed Hatchiyack with a combined ki blast, which was necessary since they were all probably beneath 50% of Hatchiyack's power and once below 70% of your opponents power, you're target practice/1 shot material, and Hatchiyack was only toying around with them like every cocky DB/DBZ/DBGT villain).
