Falcon vs Nightwing (Comics) (my favourite superheroes)

Training, equipment and powers:

Falcon: Hard-light wings made by black panther and modified by Iron man to shoot explosives, can fly at a maximum speed of 100 miles per hour (but not for too long), trained to be on par with captain america in skill, Peak physical condition, hook to grapple onto things and tangle enemies, one of the best flyers in the marvel universe exceeding Ironman and Ms Marvel, ability to control birds, pet falcon called redwing, in helmet can control whole suit mentally with special tech designed by T'Challa, almost as clever as Tony Stark, pistol, red and white suit (for extra swag factor).

Nightwing: escrima sticks (with electricity), wing-ding, grapple gun, various weapons and tools, trained by batman to be as on par as possible to him, better at agility and acrobats than batman because he was born in a circus, peak physical condition, as good as or even better computer knowledge than Batman, used to be Robin, blue and black suit (for extra swag factor)

Who I think would win:

I think The Falcon would win by an inch because of his speed, flight, intellect and his wings. Nightwing would be one of the biggest threats he would ever face but I think he would win. They are both at peak physical condition, Nightwing may be more acrobatic and would beat him in hand to hand combat but with the wings and suit he has more agility. He has a higher intellect and could easily use Nightwings weaknesses against him. My way of defeating him if I were Falcon would be to fly up while dodging his attacks and then fly to the side a bit and calculate where to fly at him at full speed from where there is no way he could dodge, then do it and hit Nightwing with my Hard-Light wing knocking him clean out. If morals were not involved I would then fly him up in the air a few hundred feet and drop him while shooting projectiles at him just in case.

Nightwing has a chance though. If he could get a clean shot to take down his wings and break his suit, then after an intense battle that falcon could not win, Nightwing would get the final blow and take him down taking major body damage.

Falcon's fight with Nuke, now even though Falcon loses this is really impressive considering Nuke is bulletproof and has literally been unaffected by attacks from Daredevil, Falcon was actually hurting him with punches, and Nuke only beat him with a surprise knife attack.

Falcon is a bullet timer and his wings are bullet proof, withstanding fire from a minigun.

@keenko: You do realize that none of that puts him on Nightwing's level....Sam's strikes barely even slowed Nuke down. I hardly call that bullet timing. Blindsiding Hawkeye isn't really that great since it was a sneak attack.

As for speed.......blocking minigun fire with two huge wings isn't that impressive compared to this.

He's casually avoided strikes from Catwoman:

Avoided a bullet at point blank range, more then once:

And he's avoided a superspeed kick from Jessie Quick:

And he's moved faster then Nemesis can even see:

And he's even moved fast enough to use Firefly as a human shield in order to block the bullets fired at him:

I would wager that Nightwing is physically stronger and better at taking punches, skill isn't even a question and neither is gear.

Sam isn't on Dick's level.

@keenko: @ancient_0f_days: I don't even see that as beating the tar out of Hawkeye in a legitimate fight. Hawkeye comes out to play crowd control. He does his job, is focused on interrogating someone, Sam flies in from behind with a cheap shot, and Clint doesn't even try fighting back but rather asks him to stop....am I missing something there?

And how does his fight with Nuke put him in Nightwing's tier? He once again comes in on a cheap shot, lands a couple of strikes, and once Nuke gains his footing, he utterly destroys him.

@keenko: Honestly, New 52 Tim Drake is a better match for Sam and he'd probably win too.

@ancient_0f_days: I pretty much reply to everything you said in the bottom part of this post. Falcon has a speed advantage and a flight advantage. I'd honestly wager reflexes are roughly the sameish and while Dick is more skilled than Sam in H2H, Falcon doesn't trail so far behind that he loses. I do concede about strength though. Also, yes, Falcon reacted to those bullets as they were fired. In one panel the gun is down and Falcon's wings are out and then in the next Nuke is shooting and Falcon has deflected them off his wing.

Falcon speeds to a blur to save Cap from being crushed.

Overall, from this alone, I'd say Falcon has the more impressive reflexes.

@god_spawn: Clint didn't refuse to fight, he was never given the time to recuperate after Falcon got the jump on him. It isn't even like Clint wasn't prepared to fight either, he was holding off rioters that he knew were under Hydra's control, plus iirc he already had known that Falcon was infected. Basically Falcon was just bloodlusted and knocked Clint down and then beat the crap out of him. He mutters stop, but it isn't because he's sitting there taking it or refusing to fight, it's all he can do.

Also, cheap shot? Nuke was gonna kill that reporter, Falcon literally just grabbed him, threw him in the woods and started fighting him. Had Nuke not have the knife to practically gut Falcon, Falcon might not have lost. The impressiveness of this is that Falcon had Nuke on the ground and was actually hurting him with his strikes.

Later, as Batman (when he got more comfortable in the cowl), Dick had no trouble dodging Black Beetle's laser:

He's avoided gunfire and beaten up gunmen in the small confines of a convenient store, mostly due to his acrobatic skill:

He's lept well over firefighter perimeter:

He's even navigated a fight between Cyborg Superman and Doomsday, while dodging lasers and talking to Supergirl, all at the same time:

He's even stalemated Cassandra Cain in a race to a crime scene:

Sam's skills are nowhere near Dick's skills...

He's a master of 6 styles, after all:

Now onto some showings...

He stalemated a perfect, though insane clone at Batman. This clone was bloodlusted, while Dick was holding back.

While yes, the clone didn't exactly have Bruce's tactical mindset, the sheer number of martial arts at it's disposal make it still a deadly opponent:

He used a combination of skill and speed to take out the superhumanly fast Owen Mercer:

And he's used a combination of speed, skill and striking power to bring down Hardsell, a meta human with invulnerability and super strength:

He's demonstrated knowledge of nerve strikes as well:

And he gained a decisive victory against Jason Todd, despite Todd having prep and Nightwing getting electrocuted and drugged:

As fast as Falcon is in the air, he has no chance of beating Nightwing on a flyby. Dick has reacted to multiple speedsters and Sam would be even easier to predict, he isn't even as tactically sound as Dick.

Nightwing practically did the same thing with Firefly but he actually had to swing Firefly in front of the gunfire, Sam only had to lift his wings whereas Nightwing lifted a person fast enough to block the bullets being shot at him. You would've considered this if you had read the scans.

As for your scans.

Travel speed will only get him so far when he's competing against someone who has caught speedsters off balance.

Fighting armored men after escaping capture isn't as impressive as fighting a group of soldiers after undergoing t blood transfusion.

One of Dick's most impressive displays is when he underwent a blood transfusion to save himself from a deadly virus that was killing Batman. Right after this (and still suffering the effects of the virus), he engages a platoon of highly armed soldiers and defeats them all soundly, before any of them can fire even a single shot:

1. Birds are going to be useless against Nightwing cus he won't be standing there simply looking at them as they attack
2. He dropped bird poo on him and suckered him off a ledge with a kick, that is hardly a victory or even a real fight and shouldn't be considered a feat.
3. Once again, birds are gonna be useless.

Sam's birds are no match for Grayson's technology and gear.

These include standard Wingdings. which are basically like batarangs:

Nightwing's suit does indeed have a one-off taser charge in it:

If those birds try to make contact with his suit, he can activate his suit taser and one shot them before they become a distraction.

But Nightwing also has other tasers in his suit:

He could potentially taser Sam in the face, given that it's a focused projectile. I know how silly that sounds, but Dick, as Batman, did it:

If Sam sends the birds, Dick can simply flash and gas to KO them all before they get to him, speaking of distractions....how is Falcon even going to get the drop on someone who is hundreds of times sneakier than he is?

Batman taught Dick to be extremely proficient in the art of stealth:

He's snuck up on Jesse Quick, then later used Batman's famous disappearing trick.

He even proved difficult for her to find:

Dick's snuck into Checkmate's base undetected:

And he's even pulled a Batman on the man himself!

Those birds are a non factor here.

1. Not as impressive as dodging Black Beetle's lasers
2. Not as impressive considering he was already in mid flight and wasn't even directly dodging them.
3. Not nearly as impressive considering Nightwing dodged a bullet shot directly under his chin and survived getting shot in the back of the head. Besides that he's tanked direct hits and was practically fine.....

Overall, Nightwing still wins easily.

I really have no interest in going through and discussing each scan, especially consider you kinda scan bombed me. I will point out the prominent one. The Watch Tower defense feat. This isn't shown. He leaps from one turret to another to another to avoid the lasers. He also didn't do it one handed, he literally has both arms out during one of the jumps, there may be some kinda context that I missing but it certainly didnt appear that way.

Also, you used gear that he had while he was Batman and gear that he had while he was in what appears to be another type of suit. I doubt Nightwing can possess dozens of grenades and still maintain jumping around in a skintight suit.

Red Skull is used to Falcon, they've been fighting for years, and he was still stunned at the amount of birds Falcon sent. Nightwing hasn't fought this before, I'm not gonna argue that he is gonna stay still or something but he definitely will be surprised. The amount of birds Sam calls in a swarm is unreal, they can still do the same thing to him.

'i dont like this feat so im gonna low ball it and say it shouldn't be a feat.' That's all I hear from that. He called a horde of birds, made them crap on him and distract him, and then beat him. Grey Gargoyle had been fighting the Avengers and would stomp Nightwing. Sam's powers allow him to distract and hurt people so he can get them at their most vulnerable.

The birds aren't useless just cause you don't like them.

You thinking Nightwing is gonna shock and gas thousands of birds is laughable. Seriously. It doesn't matter how advanced and skilled you are, having a swarm of birds around you, pecking and crapping you is gonna be a good distraction.

Rogue, with the powers of She-Hulk and Moon Knight yanks Falcon out of beating the crap out of Mimic, steals his powers, then distracts Iron Man's armor and gets the jump on it. It doesn't matter how 'advanced' Nightwing is, he isn't knocking out a thousand birds with a single gas grenade and moving on.

Also, as I write this I realize that you're using Pre-52 Nightwing feats. Thus you're entire argument is moot considering by default this is New-52. lol.

Anyway, I'm gonna leave a link to my Falcon Respect Thread if you fully wanna get all of his feats and stop lowballing him.

P.S, Comicstooge, aka the dude you got your scans from, has told me he thought Falcon was in the same tier. lol.
