Dr. Strange vs Superman
This topic is locked from further discussion.
he is in my top 5, but not favourite.... Let me put it this way if Strange has a time to react then supes will lose otherwise supes speedblitz (one may of course say that it's out of character for supes to blitz an unknown opponent)@asIsuspected: u a supes fanboy i guess
He doesn't have time to react, lets face it Strange looks like a wizard so Supes will try and blitz from the start. The question is does he have defenses from the get go that would protect him? that's all that matters.
Superman would lose, guys. Dr.Strange, in the comic where Captain America is dead, used a power to help wolverine sneak into S.H.I.E.L.D. to confirm he was truly dead by "freezing time itself" without any effort. With that said strange could freeze time right when superman or himself had a problem and banish superman to another realm, or universe, or multiverse, or make an object appear in his brain, killing him. He also has astral form where he is invisible and cannot be touched because his actual body is in another realm whereas his powers and thoughts are on the same plane as he intends it to be. Strength and speed don't play factors in this battle...unfortunately. Since superman is weak to magic, it's magic from "anyone". If you guys remember correctly he had his a** handed to him by the atom when the atom just used magic lightning to his chest. Dr.Strange is by far more powerful in magic than the atom. Superman needed help from Captain Marvel (Shazaam DC version not Captain Marvel from Marvel...that's a long story LOL) and without him Superman would have been defeated. We're talking about a guy who is honest and does things by the book and tries reasoning before fighting, in that case Superman would not try "sneaking" up on Dr.Strange, if he were trying to fight Dr.Strange by gathering he was a magic user than he wouldn't fight him one on one anyway and would bring someone who could protect him from the magic rendering this entire conversation useless. So when it comes down to it, they meet mid flight Superman has a problem with Dr.Strange or visa versa, Dr.Strange goes Astral Form, Superman tries heat vision which doesn't work, tries cold air which doesn't work, tries throwing blows which doesn't work, tries using his psychic abilities which doesn't work due to the fact that Dr.Strange is not on the same plane and Superman's physic abilities are not that powerful to reach another plane and he only gets them in extreme anger. Dr.Strange than does what he wishes magically and it's over guys. One on One Dr.Strange wins, if you wanna state "if it were pre, post, or now Superman" than use some actual situation instead of just stating he would win, use weaknesses and powers, brains of both. So like saying, first he would do this this and this, knowing the other guy won't just stand around letting him do it.
@myst1que: His Shields makes for that, most of the time they work, or just the Eye of Agamotto can create a protection.
Current Strange LOLSTOMP GUYS ! :D
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA !
Dr Strange invokes Nyarlathotep.
The JLA and Dr Fate *cough* opponents are ALL lolstomped.
Dr.Strang without a single second thought. Now I'll give supes credit and defendebit him with the fact that supes is really weak to magic in the sense that he leaves him in a state like kryptonite, it just really hurts and tires him where as a real, weakness would be able to kill him (like a kryptonite stake to the heart) but there is a level of magic and beyond that can destroy anything even if it is not weak to magic. Dr.strange is so vastly powerful and intelligent the fight would have been won by him before it even began. The thing about magic is that it is completely and entirely without limit and can do whatever one imagines as long as they, have the will to make it happen.
Another thing being forgotten is all the rest, ofor dr.stranges auto defenses he had set up. I do see the mentioning of his shields, which by the way have blocked multiple attacks that were on powerror levels high enough to obliterate superman, but he also has his magical threat detection, his magical healing factor as well as many more. There are so many different comics that explain and show him using so many different magical abilities and defenses as well as him being prepared for almost any situation (much like bat boy and his plan for everything paranoia), he also has so many powerful artifacts that he would never even need to cast a single spell.
I like super man I really do, but there are just somethings he cannot best.
@noone301994: no gifs?
@dondave: Just, wow. CV has changed A LOT in 5 years.
@dondave: I mean , look at the comments in this thread from 5-6 years ago. People's opinion on battles involving Superman seem to have gotten much different.
Why isn't this locked yet It's a total mismatch in Strange's favor Superman doesn't stand a chance
P.S. I freakin hate Superman.
Auto-shields are the make-or-break here
If they can withstand millions of hits per second from a moon-buster for at least a second, Strange could cook something real nasty up
If not, he bites the dust
Does he even have them anymore?
@masterkungfu: Lol I don't use a GIF for every comment. But since you asked:
If Shuma, Dormammu, Cyttorak, Galactus, The Abyssal, Mephisto, Satannish and others couldn't break, I'm sure that Superman can't.
And it's not like he doesn't have other options or even need his body to fight.
Sometimes he have, but isn't very common.
@asmodeus12345: Isn't Shuma omnipotent O_o
No, it's a hyperbole, is only on his dimension, and he isn't the first one to be called omnipotent either.
Although his implied power is very high.
Current Strange is a scary mofo
Dr.Strange seriously wrecks superman
1. Dr.Strange faced LT
2. Dr.strange has magic on levels where DC magic users which they was on other then Dr.Fate.
3. Superman major weakness is Magic...
@asmodeus12345: Hyperbole in that "he is omnipotent" definitely, but even outside his home dimensions "very high" is still an understatement. He was a (as one of the many-angled ones) power far greater than the cancerverse galactus engine, which was far more powerful than the galactus (and other cosmics) of earth 616. But Strange winning against Shuma isn't all that relevant here as in his normal state he's not in a position to handle that.
As for the speed blitz idea, I don't know if that would even work, even autoshields aside (which if included here like in his classic days it's pretty much a done deal). People on comicvine like to think speedblitz is the end all of battles, in some cases it can be the deciding factor but not always. He's dodged attacks from people (matching them in hand to hand) who have been able to, themselves, dodge lightning. Mantis, who can outrun bullets and could trip The Runner (who is faster than Silver Surfer). He has fought beings with super speed before, but usually speed of fights aren't clearly stated as they're not the more important thing. There's a sort of mystic instinct and reaction as long as he's aware. Plus he can read minds and had an assortment of spells to either affect his physical abilities or those of others, properties of the world or whatever. He could slow Superman down or make himself fast enough to keep up with him, etc etc. There are many feats, and different things he has in his repertoire to handle that.
Plus, current Strange is back to being a "scary mofo."
No, I agree, I even see him above Galactus himself and I would never use Strange defeating Shuma on his dimension since he was amped as hell by The Wingless of Sorrow( And we both know that Dormammu had problems with it when he was in Strange's body) more the powers of Arioch and the fact that he was turning into Shuma himself.
LOL, so true, people think that his attributes are the one of a normal human being, I even saw some saying that his durability isn't high, despite he took punches from Juggernaut, Hulk, Lurking( The Fear Lord that can hold the entire Cosmos on his hands), Arkon( That fought Hercules, groups of X-Men and Thor), Satannish( Who crush Savage Hulk and Namor), as well hits from Surfer, Dormammu, took the entire Sanctum Sanctorum falling on him with no problems, and he even was the first the awake up in an attack that knock out the Defenders.
They also forget he doesn't need his body and have other counters to speed blitz.
@asmodeus12345: That's true, I guess by feats Strange's shields have stood up to a lot
