Which Sorcerer is the greater weilder of magic?

Loki:

Magical energy manipulation, superhuman strength, stamina, durability and longevity.

Shape-shifting, extrasensory abilities with high intelligence.

Dr Strange:

Genius level intellect with extended Life-span.

High level magic & cosmic energy wielder able to generate a near infinite amount of effects.

So are Thor, Ares and Hercules and that fact really hasn't stop them from being beaten by mortals.

But the difference is your talking what actually happens in comic book (plot driven) vs. what would really happen. I'd like to think Strange could beat him, but in a pure one or the other setting, I don't see how you against Loki. If I'm wrong, I'll be happy to concede...

Well if you go off whats stated in comics, I would say that Dr Strange is more powerful. He has access to levels that Loki doesn't.

Loki already beat Classic Dr. Strange. Look at covers for Strange Tales, should be in the early to mid 100's.

Classic Loki could go rounds with Classic Doctor Strange. (Don't ask me how) Although currently even before the depowerment of Loki, Strange would win.

@alpha: I reckon it would be Loki on top here. While Dr. Strange has the intellect, Loki's pretty much the God of all that. Plus, his pressing strength is around 30 tons, so physical stats are out here. It's the same with magic, while they're close in magical prowess, I'd say that Dr. Strange's slightly overpowered by Loki.

Classic strange should win. Current wouldn't fair too well.

Lets put it this way. If any mortal could take Loki it would be Dr strange. He gets his powers from elder gods. So could a small portion of Bor force beat Loki? I would say yea.

Physically speaking, he is an Asgardian God, so he's faster, stronger, tougher etc.

As far as fighting skills, Loki is surprisingly skilled with melee weapons, so he has that on him.

And for intelligence, that is clearly Loki.

My money is on the God of Mischief.

@dane: strange needs massive plot to be above dormy. Even mephisto is a reach.

I really think this battle comes down to semantics. Loki would technically take more than strange to . Defeat him or the avengers could just call him to defeat loki when he shows up.

Loki can take out Current Strange but overall I would say Strange would win.

Strange. When it comes to magic, Stephen is a reference in the Marvel universe. Everything what Loki makes, Strange also makes and even better ... except maybe the transmutation.

That scan is from the earliest years of Strange's career before he received several artifacts, permanent amps, and became Sorcerer Supreme. All Loki's physicals wont matter when Strange's shields have resisted planetary attacks.
