Marvel's Dr. Doom takes on Sauron from The Lord Of The Rings, as his armored, true, physical self, of course. Prep for both and no morals, with bloodlust on and the fight being to the death and taking place in urban Vietnam. Who will triumph?

Sauron was shaping planet earth and traveling other dimensions with a snap of a finger. he was switching points of view (literally) and a reality bender.
Sauron stomps doom for all he's got, takes his tech, Kingdom, and destroys it because he doesn't need them.

Sauron was a half god. his Magic>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dr. Doom's magic
and Sauron is a mystical entity. he's unkillable. Pre ring creation.
post ring creation his power was augmented, but left him open to a PIS of a weakness.

@nickthedevil: Bollocks! When the hell did Sauron defeat Eru Illuvatar? Not even his master Melkor was able to match the powers of the Valar, let alone their creator Illuvatar.

ah but he outwitted him and was able to work around him.
can't deny that :) them be some serious skills if you can render illuvatar unable to interfere.
@nickthedevil: Eru and the Valar are unable to interfere due to their powers being too strong for the world to handle. Remember Beleriand? And c'mon. Melkor a skyfather? Didn't Fingolfin fought and crippled him? Yes Morgoth won and yeah Fingolfin was an "ancient elf" but nowhere are they skyfather levels. If Melkor was skyfather he could have snapped the Quendi into oblivion.

maybe above skyfather was a hyprbole, but he was very well able to match.
Melkor was shaping mountains, rivers, and minds.
@nickthedevil: That was Melkor. He was a Vala, infinitely more badass than his servant. Sauron is just a Maia. IMO, the only thing going here for Sauron is the fact that Ainur are "unkillable".

i thought we were talking about Melkor the entire time?
and nooooo, Sauron also displayed a type of telepathy remember? and possession.
@nickthedevil: Yeah we were talking about Melkor but the thread is about Sauron so I guess I was just bringing us back on-topic.
Yeah I forgot about Sauron's telepathy. I'm gonna reserve judgement until someone explains how Doom deals with tp and possession. I'm not a real Marvel fan. Still... He stole PR Beyonder's powers. That's a pretty big feat considering Beyonder was their own version of "Illuvatar" before he got nerfed in the multiple retcons. I am yet to see any feat of Sauron that can contend with Eru.

then again OP states sauron from LOTR...
if that means the books, then he has no feats...
Sauron displayed feat in silmarillion. nothing in LOTR series

Morgoth is skyfather level, he is the greatest Valar and Varda was capable of creating entire galaxies and solar systems and Morgoth is above her, he could crush entire Earth with one stroke from his Grond, Morgoth was said to escape the timeless viod, a dimension beyond reality and time, and was going to destroy the sun and moon, only on his way to earth he is truly immortal, if you kill him his essence will remain no matter what. It is said that he is the most powerful being after Eru the father of all things.

Doom learns Socery by just watching it.
Doom survive a Atomic Gernade in the chest...
Doom survives IG blast to the Face.
Doom beats Beyonder, Galactus, Blade, Magneto, SS, and Namor with Prep Alone..... with Prep...... Preeeeppp...
Doom Blasts both Adam Warlock and a IG wearing Magnus like a boss.
Doom Armour can asorb energies from someone as powerful as Franklin.
Dooms Forcefield holds up where Galactus is KO.
Im taking a chance here but... Im going with Prep Doom.

Doom doesn't need to steal his power, he's better than Sauron to begin with. Giving him prep turns this into a stomp in his favor.
This.
Doom stomps. I don't see why people keep using Sauron in battles... I also love how people state he was a god or half god when he was just a minor spirit... This dude got defeated by a normal sword that got busted by a dude falling on it and was defeated by a damn WOFLHOUND.. WITH CLAWS... We all know that CLAWS>DOOM. Sauron failed to best some stupid humans with swords and bows and crep.

In Sauron's defence Narsil was magical before is was broken in the fight against Sauron. Whether it was magical in it's broken form is debatable.
Sauron besides mental powers (including telepathy and mind control) have ability to control weather (making storms with hail, lightning, snow blizzards) control over fires of Mount Doom (not only it's volcanic activity depends on his will but it's a place when he used fire from the earth in his ,,forgings and sorceries" and all other artifacts lose it's power, like Phial of Galadriel, his own body is said to be in flames, ,,his hand though black burned like fire, and so Gil-Galad was destroyed" he killed elf king some immolation style attack), shadow manipulation (spreading artificial darkness, shadow which can hide activities from spying, just like Huorns who could cover their path and nobody could see them), also he used fumes and ash clouds to block the sunlight, make phantoms and illusions: ,,Sauron was become now a sorcerer of dreadful power, master of shadows and of phantoms, foul in wisdom, cruel in strength, misshaping what he touched, twisting what he ruled, lord of werewolves; his dominion was torment." Could manipulate feelings of others magically: ,,He took Minas Tirith by assault, for a dark cloud of fear fell upon those that defended it; and Orodreth was driven out, and fled to Nargothgrond." Could transform the environment (and I don't mean the effects of his industry abusing resources, and work of slaves that made whole lands a wasted desert full of ash piles and poisonous water), his evil power radiating through the land could twist it and taint: ,,Then Sauron made it into a watchtower for Morgoth, a stronghold of evil, and a menace; and the fair isle of Tol Sirion became accursed, and it was called Tol-in-Gaurhoth, the Isle of Werewolves."
,,Now of old the name of that forest was Greenwood the Great, and its wide halls and aisles were the haunt of many beasts and of birds of bright song; and there was the realm of King Thranduil under the oak and the beech. But after many years, when well nigh a third of that age of the world had passed, a darkness crept slowly through the wood from the southward, and fear walked there in shadowy glades; fell beasts came hunting, and cruel and evil creatures laid there their snares.
Then the name of the forest was changed and Mirkwood it was called, for the nightshade lay deep there, and few dared to pass through, save only in the north where Thranduil’s people still held the evil at bay. Whence it came few could tell, and it was long ere even the Wise could discover it. It was the Shadow of Sauron and the sign of his return. For coming out of the wastes of the East he took up his abode in the south of the forest, and slowly he grew and took shape there again; in a dark hill he made his dwelling and wrought there his sorcery, and all folk feared the Sorcerer of Dol Guldur and yet they knew not at first how great was their peril." animals, trees and even rivers there were altered: black deers, black butterflies, enchanted river (drinking water cause unnatural sleep and memory loss), inedible black squirrels (Bilbo and dwarves tried to hunt for them, but they could not eat them), all the time it's covered in darkness: ,,They all slept closely together, and took turns to watch; and when it was Bilbo's turn he would see gleams in the darkness around them, sometimes pairs of yellow red or green eyes would stare at him from a distance and then slowly fade and disappear only to appear some other place. Sometimes they would watch from branches directly above them. And that was most tarrifying indeed as you could imagine. The eyes he hated the most where the horrible pale bulbous. " too big to be animal eyes" he thought. But in his heart he was terrified just the same. Although it was not yet cold, they tried to light a fire but they soon gave that up. It seemed to bring hundred and hundreds of eyes all round them. Though whatever they where, they where careful not to let their bodies show in the flicker of the flames. It also brought thousands of dark grey moths some as big as your hand. They could not stand that nor the huge bats. So they gave up fires and walked and dozed in the enormous uncanny darkness."
,,[He] saw all round him a sea of dark green, ruffled here and there by the breeze; and there were everywhere hundreds of butterflies. I expect they were a kind of 'purple emperor', a butterfly that loves the tops of oak-woods, but these were not purple at all, they were a dark dark velvety black without any markings to be seen." Sauron used mecromancy, could change living person into wraith (by morgul knifes with spells on it), he thought his servants sorcery (wielding flaming swords, destroying weapons at distance telekinetically, using spells to paralyze, blast doors and gates, necromantic practices), was able to magically cause pain, created plagues, made magical barriers powered by statues with evil spirits in them (Watchers at Cirith Ungol).
Small poem about Sauron (not mine by the way :) ):
,,Men called him Thu, and as a god
in after days beneath his rod
bewildered bowed to him, and made
his ghastly temples in the shade.
Not yet by Men enthralled adored,
now was he Morgoth's mightiest lord,
Master of Wolves, whose shivering howl
for ever echoed in the hills, and foul
enchantments and dark sigaldry
did weave and wield. In glamoury
that necromancer held his hosts
of phantoms and of wandering ghosts,
of misbegotten or spell-wronged
monsters that about him thronged,
working his bidding dark and vile:
the werewolves of the Wizard's Isle."
