Doomsday vs Hal Jordan

Pre-52. Encounter in Metropolis. Win by death. No BFR.

Hal wasnt around to face Doomsday when he took out Superman. Guy Gardner was, but he got mauled along with the rest of the JLA. But, what if Hal had been there to deal with this threat?

Scenario: Hal arrives in Metropolis right after DD nearly kills Guy, Blue Beetle, and Booster Gold. Many have already died. He realizes that this is serious and will not hold back. He wont let Doomsday do to Metropolis what Cyborg Superman and Mongul did to Coast City.

Difficult ... but I bet Hal with blue ring.

Since its DoS version of Darkseid, if Hal fights smart (a lot smarter than Superman), id say he could win. If Hal is in character, he too gets killed.

@rocketstark: Keeps his green ring at constant 200%+. His Green ring also amps the blue ring's constructs.

Even with just a GL ring, Hal can survive nukes rather easily. He did it when he was just a rookie and had no idea what the ring could do. Basically, the ring's auto-shields protected him without him even trying.

It's difficult to calculate out effective the ring would be against Doomsday even at 200% considering he's evolved heavy resistance, arguable immunity against the energy when a Guardian sacrificed himself to kill DD when they told his origin. It's why DD just rolled over the GL that was in the JLA during DoS.

Correct me if I'm wrong but DD already has dealt with and killed/defeated GL's well before the DoS event, and also took on the Guardians in which one of them sacrificed themselves to stop him going any further?

Perhaps I should remove BFR as an option. The point of the fight is to see who wins, not who can permanently ignore the other or shuffle him off to be dealt with by someone/something else.

@willpayton: I think that's a good idea, I've been wanting people to post feats for blue lanterns anyways for a while.

Well, this is Doomsday from the Death of Superman arc, so its hard to say if feats that technically take place before DoS, but were written after DoS, qualify.

@dondave: Why wouldn't he? He can break his constructs easily and after that isn't hal just a regular guy

Superman can break GL constructs, but not necessarily easily. Also, consider that Hal has 2 rings, not just one. And, each ring effectively amps the other one.

Without BFR, nobody can put down Doomsday in a definitive manner. It is DoS Doomsday, but without BFR it has to be acknowledged that he did come back after that more dangerous than ever.

It makes his ring go like to 1000 percent or something so I would not call it "weak".

IMO, GL has great showings in his title with Johns, but everywhere else (Justice League) he isn't as impressive. GL fights cosmic beings for a living, he should "kill" Doomsday (I assume we are counting putting him down only once).

People come back from the dead all the time in comics. For this fight, one death is enough for the win.

Battle Field Removal (Example Throwing someone into space who can't teleport or fly would count as a win if it is allowed) and I don't know how Hal is supposed to win with out it

I'd say Hal.The blue and green combo would give him an edge.But it depends on how he uses it so it really could go eitherway.

In death of superman, doomsday and supes were equals. Hal is a match for superman on his own, and the blue ring will give him victory.

I would say that Hal would win this, the advantage that Hal has over superman is his heightened ability to keep a cool head and his strategic capabilities. This combined with the overlapping powers of hope and will should give Hal a 60-70% chance of beating doomsday, especially after doomsday had been fighting off the other members of the justice league. Id put money Hal for this one.

I think generally Hal fights smarter than Supes and the other Earth GLs as well. Superman is smart, but he tends to brawl and soak up damage as his normal MO.

Of course current, New 52 Hal, would likely underestimate DD and overestimate himself. But yeah, based on your full rules, he could kill DD once. And probably only once.
