Purpose of the HOF

Contrary to what most may believe, the HOF is about more than just back patting and recognition. It's about endorsing the values we want to see more of on our forum. There is an old saying, "You catch more flies with honey"................ and it's true. Recognize the things you like with praise and more will want to do them for the recognition. This is your chance to positively influence our community.

Please no negative comments about any user or anyone's choice. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Rules

1. Everyone can vote for only five of the nominees on the nominee list below. No complaints about the list will be accepted as it was made by the community in an open nomination process
2. You cannot vote for someone twice
3. You cannot vote for yourself, though campaigning is allowed
4. Please base votes on the behaviors of the debaters listed and the talent they have shown in their debates
5. No derogatory comments about other members choices
6. Please try to provide a brief reason why you voted for the viner you have ( it might just eliminate the usual negative comments about the list/process/ etc.), though this is not a requirement for the vote to be counted

Nomination round has already come and gone (was up for 5 straight days). Right now is purely voting for people already on the current list of nominees.

Holy crap, @esquire never made HOF yet?! He has my vote.

@nickzambuto should have been in last time. He almost had the votes, and still a active debater at times lol. Still, he argues well for what he believes in.

@lukehero, active in making match ups, tourneys, and does a decent job debating on things how he sees them, even if I think he is wrong on everything :)

@tparks a veteran who been on her awhile, and still argues one hell of a game for characters no one would give a second thought too.

This last one is a hard toss, I like @monsterstomp, he just does not debate much the past year, and @highaccuser does a good job, but my last vote must go to @juiceboks. I see him all too much debating tourneys, on regular threads, and never knew him once to lose his cool in a debate.

I was undecided if I should vote for @esquire instead of Nova because there both very good debaters. Bringnit's Past Debates

I think some major reasons Bringnit deserves to be in the hall of fame is that he proved that a good debater doesn't need scans or long paragraphs to be amazing. Back in the day he did most of his typing from his Iphone so he had to rely on issue numbers however he managed to get his points across just as well as I did. Likewise he could also get his point across in less words than I could, he was definitely more to the point than I was which is a very underrated trait on the vine. Anyways the below thread shows that he was willing to think for himself and was able to form his own opinions. Likewise another problem with debaters these days is everyone is so caught up in being right or wrong, people just aren't in it to learn. Everything is a big competition these days. Anyways he did admit he didn't know a lot about black panther at the time of this thread but he still brought up some good points by supporting Peter. Plus I think its impressive that he managed to find a way to debate a prep battle at all, usually those just come down to the same boring arguments but this thread was different (he was debating against buckshot too if its worth anything):

I'll also throw out a vote for @slimj87d. He's shown to be a very logical and skilled debater who was particularly helpful when I first realized Winter Soldier was better than I thought.

I'd also advocate others vote for him in general. I don't have many threads to link to but this one should show what I'm talking about.

• @dedmanwalkin for unaparalleled skill in creating well-balanced tournaments and at exploiting and closing loopholes. Even though sadly we don't see him much.
• @neongamewave for bringing some prestige to those high end, hard to interpret video game characters, and for an otherwise solid opinion.
• @nickzambuto for his talent with non-comic characters, and repeatedly proving their worth, even with the stigma applying to them.
• @shootingnova for being a top tier SW debater and still not being on this list yet. He's a very concise speaker, who I feel always manages to get his point across.

Notable Achievement

These are the guys who might not make it in this round, but will definitely have my vote next time around.

• @claymore1998 for being one talented, Doctor Strange supporting grandma.
• @joewell for his non-shounen anime debates, which I always find refreshing.
• @thenewbluebeetle007 for being a very powerful and accurate debater, and only doesn't have my vote this round because of his busy schedule which prevents him from being quite so active as he used to be.
• @spector_rand who is my favorite up and coming debater, and whom I think just needs a bit more time to improve his skills and his rep.

TNBB's Campaign For the Hall of Fame!!

First things first: I love comics, and love debating. While I haven't been around in the past few weeks, I still follow Injustice, Deadpool, and Justice League, among others, and I absolutely love reading DC and Marvel. In addition, I love the art of debating and am in fact one of the senior members of my high school debate team. So when I discovered CaVs, I thought I'd found the perfect mash-up of the two, and I like to think I've gotten pretty good at debates. I've soundly beaten Hall of Famers (since I got the hang of debating, I'm a combined 17-4 in votes against three hall of fame debaters). I was in a debate with another (undefeated) hall of famer, and one user even posted that he thought I was winning. Over the past few months, I've lost a grand total of once when the CaV ran to completion, and to a very senior, talented debater.

Good lord, I have 15 people on my short list, not even counting my longer list. I think I am going to start off with a few and then add some later depending on how the tallies go.

My votes for now will go to:

@shootingnova, who is clearly one of the best Star Wars debators and easily deserves a spot. I think he has been overlooked in the past since he mostly sticks with Star Wars and may not be as well known by those who don't dip into those waters.

@bringnit for all the reasons jashro mentioned above. He was very good at concise and accurate debating.

Both demonstrate the values I think we champion for the battles forum in general, and the HoF in particular, in terms of knowledge, skills, and character.

Also, @jashro44, thanks for the vote.

I guess I'll do a little campaigning for myself. I'm more of a day-in, day-out, random battle debater rather than a tournament or CaV guy, so I mostly don't have long lists of who I've beaten or whatever. But I think I've added a fair amount to the battle forums over my years of history here, in terms of what I hope comes across as a usually friendly, open style of discussion, and knowledge in a fair range of topics from streetlevel on up. I think I'm probably considered one of the Vine experts on a few characters, including Elektra, Grendel (actually, all the Grendels including Grendel Prime), Lady Bullseye, and Molecule Man. Also the Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters, although there's not so many battles with them! You can check out my various respect threads or other posts on some of these characters, which are linked to above, some of which have been used by other people fairly often.

While it's not directly debate-related, I guess I've had some effect on the battle forums due to the fact that I'm one of the more prolific battle-makers around over the long term, having made over 300 battles, including having invented a specific bracket battle style which has been somewhat influential (here's an example, see the full battle list for all of them).

I know I just said I don't usually go in for the more structured debates, but I did used to spend a lot of time in the Battles of the Week when @k4tzm4n was doing them, and still jump into @sirfizzwhizz's new version when I get a chance. I was selected as one of the featured "arguments of the week" or whatever they were called 13 times when K4tz was doing them, and twice now for SFW's new version, so I guess that's one way to measure success.

To be honest, I completely understand if I don't get the pick. I'm not as nearly as active on Comic Vine as I once was. That said, I wouldn't mind some either :).

Also, as I am a half inactive member on the CV, I don't want to use all five of my votes to people who may not deserve them. However, I will say that the one member who's made significant progress as a debtor is @nickzambuto. I remember back in the day when this guy used to exaggerate everything. But now look at him! He's a cold stone, logically thinking machine! Superb work! Hope you get the victory bro!

Bringit- I can see his influence in many great debaters today and in myself. You know he's good when Jash says he's better than he is :P.

Slim8j7d- Has a very logical thought process, and is able to bring this into comics, while acknowledging the nature of comics themselves.

Shootingnova- Disappointing he hasn't got in. One of the best, if not the best Star Wars Debaters around.

Highaccuser- been here a relatively short time, but has a very good breath of knowledge and has seemed to learn the ropes faster than alot of people....

Juiceboks- I see him and Highaccuser in similar lights debating wise. Aside from that, he's a good advocate for Logan since Supes, W08 and GS are not as active as before...

Honorable mentions

Claymore- Very respectful, very knowledgeable about cosmics, and readily takes new info abroad.

Nickz- Yea, I've disagreed with you in the past but generally your explanations are well rounded and worded and your expertise in Live Action and Video games can't be discounted.
