Dr.Doom plans on taking the Death-Star for his own purposes. Dr.Doom has built a ship that can withstand most of the attacks from the D.S but not all. Dr.Doom has 200 Doom-bots with him. In order to successfully take over the Death-Star he needs to kill all whoever is on board. There are 500 storm troopers, 10 newly crowned Jedi's and Darth Vader. Dr.Doom has 4 hours of prep in the layout of the entire Death-Star but has no knowledge on where the storm troopers, jedi's and Darth Vader. Darth Vader knows there are a small army that will invade his Death-Star but will have no knowledge on who is invading.

Well whats 'most of' - the planet destroying cannon is quite obviously their most powerful weapon by several orders of magnitude. If there is a single thing it can't withstand, that is it.
