Version: Luke from Return of the Jedi.
The fight takes place inside of a Death Star. (Same place where Luke fought his father for the last time).
Win by Death.
Morals are off.
Luke has a blue lightsaber.
Malgus has a red one.
No prep.
Close distance.
Who wins?
Darth Malgus vs Luke Skywalker
winner is luke, his connection to the force and power is vastly superior to malgus's who wouldnt be strong enough to prevent himself from being ownd.
I'm leaning toward Luke for this one.
Vastly superior (raw) Force power, and he beat a superior duelist (Vader) at the climax of ROTJ
Luke stomps or near stomps Malgus. He beat Vader, and Vader was at his prime there, and we know Vader is better than Malgus. Plus Luke be Vader with morals on. Morals off Luke *shudders, could potentially destroy Malgus just with the Force.
Thread Hijack:
- Legends versions
- RotJ Luke Skywalker, Malgus is in his prime.
- Standard gear, morals, in character ect
- Fight to the death, ko or incapacitation
R1 - Luke is under his usual morals.
R2 - Luke is okay with killing Malgus off the bat.

Luke should win a marginal majority.
I see Luke taking 7/10 here imo
Luke wasn't all that in RoJ, he wasn't even a master yet? All he did by the end of Jedi is full fill the prophecy and then start his full proper jedi training to becoming a grand master well after those events. I don't see why Malgus couldn't take RoJ Luke, who again, was barely a jedi knight at the time. iirc, ROTJ is set only 6 months after ESB?
R1 - Luke in a very narrow fight.
R2 - Luke for a noticeably solid majority.

Rank is utterly irrelevant to power, skill, or anything else. Luke never became a master until a significant amount of time later, but this is irrelevant. The fact is that Luke was an equal with Vader in terms of dueling skill, and on par with the likes of Obi-Wan in terms of Force power. If rank mattered so much, we'd be arguing that Tarkin could wreck Darth Vader.
And RotJ is set one year after TESB.

One year? Thanx, couldn't remember. It's well stated that Vader was far from his prime by Jedi, and it showed, as a lot of that fight was to do with father/son/prophecy. I'm not saying it's a one way fight, but, Luke was no where near as skilled or power full as people seem to think he was in Jedi. Though I do understand what your trying to say, your Tarkin analogy seems out of place?
@assman: Vader is not out of his prime by RotJ. Vader was in his prime by RotJ:
Lord Vader did not mind waiting, though, nor was even aware of it. For it was an honor, and a noble activity, to kneel at his ruler's feet. He kept his eyes inward, seeking reflection in his own bottomless core. His power was great, now, greater than it had ever been. It shimmered from within, and resonated with the waves of darkness that flowed from the Emperor. He felt engorged with this power, it surged like black fire, demon electrons looking for ground...but he would wait. For his Emperor was not ready; and his son was not ready, and the time was not yet. So he waited.

Yes, Luke is significantly skilful and powerful. Not bothered to post all of his feats, but you can check them here:

I only read the dark empire series as far as Luke in the comics go. I have read a lot about him online. That's out of the novelization of ROTJ, I take it?
@assman: Yes, of course.
ROTJ and pre-ROTJ, Malgus in a hard fight. Post-ROTJ, Luke in a hard fight.
My thoughts exactly
@lordraiden: I like you already.
Luke at this point in time should still win but he will get hurt doing it not to the point to where he'll die but just to the point to where he will need to rest for a day or two from what I've malgus don't play but Luke still takes this also it's ROTJ Luke Skywalker why can't he have his green lightsaber that one was way cooler not that the other one was bad it's just this one shows he's transitioned from talented padawan to talented Jedi knight and I say talented because well similar to his father he was pretty heh well talented
