Poll Daredevil vs Jessica Jones(Which show is better?) (38 votes)

Daredevil 84%
Jessica Jones 16%

Just finished watching Jessica Jones over the course of 3-4 days. Was fairly entertaining, but feels that the ending was somewhat lackluster and abrupt. Personally, i enjoyed Daredevil more than the latter. What do you guys think?

Put this into general topic. First 4 episodes in Jessica Jones is better. But, that's sorta unfair because in Jones we are getting 2 superheroes for the price of one. Plus we are getting a villain with actual powers. DD was more of a gritty crime mystery.

I'll wait to finish to say whether or not it's better overall, but those first 4 episodes were a lot better than the first 4 of DD. DD had a great last 4 episodes. So we'll see if jones can live up to the hype.

Undoubtedly Jessica Jones. Much better story, better characters and better story telling. Daredevil is highly overrated IMO. AKA Jessica Jones is easily one of the best comic book shows.

Right now, DD had better action and more creative cinematography, and Fisk was an awesomely realized villain, but Jessica Jones has a wonderfully acted main and a cool co-main in Luke Cage. And we get Trisha Walker and what looked like a Hellcat Tease in Episode 2. :) So yay for 5th potential Defender! But the writing so far is better and everything for Jone's just feels "right" to sound cliche. Iunno...I think DD was the best comic book adaptation maybe ever; the Matt and Fisk flashback episodes were excellent thematically and the final episode was pretty monster. But overall, I gota agree that the first few episodes of Jessica Jones are a winner.

The sex scenes in JJ got a little excessive for me.

Daredevil was better, I don't think it was wanked personally, I loved it, it changed the game for Superhero television.

Jessica Jones began with a lot of momentum, but there was a dip in the middle and while it vectored upwards again towards the end, it never became quite as good as it was in those early episodes. I think it would have benefitted from 8 - 10 episodes rather than 13. I still really enjoyed it though, characters, tone, social commentary etc were really solid. Kilgrave was great too.

I feel like the MCU movies needs to step up to the quality of its TV at the moment; I'm awaiting the Civil War trailer with baited breath.

@rogueshadow: I think DD got wanked because it was a direct contrast/comparison to Arrow. Like I said I'm only on episode 4, so if the quality goes down I guess I'll see for myself.

I feel that way too. I think the Russo brothers will do a better job than Whedon. With Batman V Superman coming out MCU is gonna have to step it up as they are gonna have a lot of competition with other movies as well.

@lukehero: Those first few days after it aired, there must have ben 30 variations of the basic, 'Which is better, Daredevil or Arrow/The Flash?' or derivations thereof. Honestly, I simply don't think they are in the same ballpark. What's more, I don't think Arrow is even trying to be what DD is in the first place.

I agree, I'm glad Whedon has gone, his shortcomings really showed in AoU, the things I felt were lurking under the surface in A1 but held back due to Whedon's lack of control really came to the fore. While he does have his strengths and I did actually enjoy AoU, I'm not really into Whedon's approach/tonality overall.

Yeah, I'm really excited to see what they can do, the Russos really showed a solid grasp of these characters and the world of Marvel in TWS. I hope they can bring more tangibility to the action, rather than a lot of the videogamey sequences we got in AoU, as well as a downplaying of the humour, hopefully doling it out to the proper characters for comic relief, rather than having nearly every hero, regardless of whether or not it is in his or her character to do so, spout semi-witty nonsense at inappropriate moments.

@rogueshadow: I think AOU was too snarky. Ant Man was very generic. I still gave AOU a A-, but it was still too snarky/witty in tone. I think the 30 threads on which is better Arrow vs DD is why I am thinking DD was getting wanked(not just on this site but many others). A lot of us(including myself) couldn't stop comparing DD to Arrow. With JJ though there is nothing to compare it to. So far it's completely different from anything I have seen so far(at least the first 4 episodes I have watched).

It took me like a month to watch Daredevil. I watched Jessica Jones in one weekend.

Kilgrave, man. Holy s***! Usually you end up liking cool villains but I didn't like this dude AT ALL. I have even liked the Joker - who has a similar heartless attitude - but Purple Man just does not care about people... except one. I liked the romance angle there.

It was harsh and bloody. Almost torture porn. Not that I gravitate toward that kind of thing but they gave it it's own feel by operating on that level. It really worked to make Kilgrave feel like a huge threat.

The end was pretty run of the mill, but it was kind of better to just go straight down the middle like that after moving so strongly in that direction for the series. Some kind of twist would have been less satisfying.

DD is wanked because it is compared to Arrow? Wth? Arrow is comparatively a horrible show...like not even comparable.

I'll go Daredevil though I could see why people may argue Jessica Jones. DD just seemed a bit better to me.

Protagonist: DD>JJ

Other Characters: Kilgrave, Hellcat, Nuke, Luke Cage > DD cast

Story: DD takes this it seemed better overall. While the beginning of JJ was great the show seemed to go on longer than needed by 2-3 episodes. DD has a slow bit in the middle but the beginning and the end are much more important.

Future Hype: DD has me soooo pumped for season 2. JJ surprised me as I didn't see them going for a season 2 though IGH seems very interesting if only because Captain America and Daredevil are my favorite Marvel Heroes and Nuke is a cool villain in my opinion. Though Hand has this hands down (no pun intended) can't wait for DD vs more ninjas

Other Comments: DD had better action and left me wanting more. JJ had a great supporting cast and we see more superhumans. Did anyone else think Claire's Cameo was felt forced.

Both shows have great characters amd villians.

What sets DD above is the cinematography and camera work, specifically during fight sequences. Every fight feels different and fresh and the choreography makes the stakes in DD higher. You're constantly feeling his struggle, fatigue, and humanity.

JJ has good action but some can come off as dull and uncreative. The camera work isn't bad but it is nowhere near as good as DD. These things matter im action sequences.

DD is a 9.7 out 10

JJ is a 8.8 out of 10
