@OmegaDynasty: He can't help it. His optic blasts are in overload and his visor literally flew off his face when he tried firing them in the flashback issue of All New X-Men 3. He has random control over them from issue 1 and the present day part of issue 3 of All New X-Men so it's likely when he tries to shoot his blasts either continue on too strong or he is afraid to fire them and kill innocent people which hinders him either way.
