Cyclops

vs

Daken

Scenario:
Apocalypse has decided to test these two mutants and see who is fit to survive. He has placed both of them in a one mile stretch of the Grand Canyon. The Dark Riders are staged along the edge of the canyon and at both ends to prevent any escape. They begin 1 mile apart and the visibility in the canyon is perfectly clear. It is a long stretch in virtually a straight line so both men can see each other coming. The time of day is noon and the wind is roughly about 20 mph in Cyclop's direction.

Equipment:

Cyclops has his standard X-Men costume with kevlar body armor. He cannot remove his visor for this fight.
Daken has his bone claws.

Prep:
Both men are at 100% and rested. They are aware of who they are facing.

Who takes it?

Cyclops wins this. He can nail Daken long before he can get there. If Cyclops does not hold back here he wins this easily. His beams are pure force right? Well something that can punch through a mountain goes right through Daken. Wolverine can take him only because his skeleton gives him some durability. A healing factor doesn't do anything if there is nothing left to heal. So if he doesn't hold back then Cyclops takes this. However, if morals are on then Daken has this.

Daken his speed is far greater then cyclops i mean wolverine was dodging cykes optic blast point blank range & daken is faster then his father & daken pheromones would help daken to win ..

It is the same thing as bullet timing. They are light speed. It has been stated several times. Once was even in a Fantastic Four issue.

I actually do not think it matters at all for this thread but fine. The simple fact is that no one dodges Cyclops optic blasts unless they have light speed. They bullet time. Daken is certainly capable of bullet timing.

So a question for you Cyke experts...

Do his beams just project out of his eyes/irises under their own power, in the same way light goes in? Or is there some sort of effort/mental cue he has to use, like when you have to focus (or unfocus?) your eyes to see those hidden picture puzzles?

Like I would imagine Supes does for his heat vision maybe?

Short answer: Both.

He is in full control of his power, he just has chosen to never control it. It is always on due to this. If he ever wanted to, he could turn it off. He is just too afraid to.

He never did. All the visor did was hold the optic beams back while he lined up shots. If he decided to control the beams, the visor would be pointless. His eyes do not even glow when he is in control.

Disagree.
1) Daken is faster than Cyclops, but the starting distance is too great and too limited for cover. Cyclops has tagged faster opponents.
2) Wolverine has dodged his blast once, and that was close range. Cyclops has tagged Wolverine far more than he hasn't. This match also begins at long range.
3) Daken's pheromones are a close range element, which are useless until he gets to close range. Because of this set-up, I don't see him accomplishing this.

@k4tzm4n: Great points. The misdirection/vanishing thing is not a product of the pheromones though, correct? Of course the distance is a huge disadvantage either way, as you noted.

i think he has to be pretty close to scott for them to work so i dont think they travel far..wants he is in range i think they take effect fast

I've argued against them being that fast for the longest. There's a long list of people that have dodged them (Spider-Man, Nightcrawler, Storm, Bullseye, Wolverine, the list goes on). People can say that the beams can be timed, but it's difficult to believe that they could be if they move that fast. Storm is an interesting case, because she can't even dodge bullets. Sauron shot her with a 9mm pistol... I've never seen Nightcrawler dodge bullets, either...
