I'm gonna hang back to see if an argument is made for Surfer.

I don't know very much about Classic Alan Scott, but isn't he weak to wood, so couldn't SS rearrange the molecules around him, to make a wooden prison around Alan. Or couldnt SS just power drain him?

@gav: I meant arguments in general (though I know Alan pretty well already), I just said Surfer because I was guessing he'd be expanded on first.

SS has virtually unlimited powers, just not unlimited power. The real question is would his telepathy, molecule manipulation, time manipulation, or techniques like trapping Alan in the board work.

@gav: Well the rules don't say the characters know each other, so does Silver Surfer have a reliable way to figure out the wood flaw exists? Like some kind of scouter reader power?

Alan Scott magic has proven more than effective against SS.Plus it is Alan Scott dishing out Surfer would not last long.

Silver Surfer can manipulate green lantern's energy, his cosmic awareness instantly alerts him to scott's wood weakness, he transmutes anything in the environment into wood and tks it into him/creates wood prison around him/smashes him with an enormous tree trunk, any way really in that regard. No green lantern can beat SS, it's really very simple. I will fully admit that it would be a hell of a fight and could end up being very close, but there's just no way Scott can put Radd down. If Surfer loses this, this tournament is officially a comic vine popularity contest...

Well you haven't offered why Surfer wins yet.

Also I'm calling Alan taking the victory in this tournament.

Well to be entirely honest, I haven't a clue about alan scotts powers and the like. However, I'm assuming he's on the level of kyle rayner or hal jordan ( characters I do know about), those of which are characters I believe surfer would win against.

However, If the contrary is true, please by all means educate me.

Alan Scott holds the power of the Starheart. With it, he hasn't really showed an upper limit, but he holds feats like putting down Mordru, and, in a JLA book I just finished reading, he Made an entire ecosystem live out it's entire span of existence (Going from tiny mammals living in trees, to a full blown society, cities included, and their subsequent extinction) in a relative blink of an eye by speeding time up. Easily one of DC's stronger heroes.

Let's say I'd back Alan over Thanos, easily.

Surfers been shown to be able speed up evolution on beings as-well, though not to that degree.

Closed the gates of hell, literally, contends with Neron, hurts Parallax, and slices a Mordru that's amped with Nabu and some other dude (I forget the name, but I know someone else was there).

@chimaera: @gav: wood isnt a weakness of Alan's anymore and hasnt been for some time (at least a decade maybe 2).

Also SS isnt manipulating Alans energy, for one thing ifs magic (which he isnt shown controling) for another Alan is energy and when by he's lost it before he has simply drained it back to him.

Also Alan is more poweful than any guardian powered Lantern, for one thing his ring was used by Abin Sur to defeat a guy who had beaten several gl's and taken their rings, back when he still needed such a thing.
