It depends. Even past his prime, Cain was shown to defeat Deadshot while having his hands and feet chained, briefly stalemate Batman during NML and lost to him in a relatively good fight in Fugitive. Also suffered a very narrow defeat from Cassandra at the climax of Batgirl v2, but I don't think he's quite on that level. That fight was heavily dictated by the relationship between the two. In his prime, he supposedly stalemated Deathstroke for an hour. Hawke isn't on that level, if Beechen's writing is to be trusted (and for the record, despite being a Cain fan, I do not trust it).

On the other hand, Connor comes with some very heavy praise (Batman called him # 2 in the world behind Shiva, something Tim Drake later on endorsed), lost very narrowly to Shiva (in what is his highlight), stalemated Richard Dragon later in his career (in a series that its canonicity is still in question, or rather was, pre New 52, but Dixon's wishes regarding Connor's level in comparison to both Dragon and Shiva were very clear), defeated the Bamboo Monkey (a character who, in turn, defeated Nightwing and Robin at the same time before Hawke saved them), and defeated the Silver Monkey in their rematch (in a fight in which PIS/CIS played a part while Connor was on the ropes and prior to him turning the table).

Anyway, Cain should win round 1 (but it's difficult to prove, at any case), and Hawke should, and IMO, would, win round 2.

I don't read a lot of either but from what I've seen Hawke is superior to Cain , but I don't know enough about Cain to measure his ability in his prime.

I enjoyed the bit after the kick off the roof where she tried to eventually save him. Although she didn't want to. Batman's like, you tried, that's the important part.

@Supreme Marvel: True that man. I was thinking about it. I really am starting to hope they take Wally and Donna and Conner and put them all on an earth where the new generation has taken over the reigns. Pretty much like the DCU before all the resurrections mixed with a little pre-crisis earth 2.
