Rules are subject to change, if I feel something is not in the nature of the thread or exceeds implied boundaries I will alter the rules as I see fit. You can make suggestion but I have the final say over it.
Morals apply for all characters, consider them to be in character for the fights.
Characters are unaware of enemies abilities unless they have displayed knowledge (via perks) or had previous encounters with them.
All characters have unlimited ammo but must reload.
First come, first serve. When a character is selected, they can't be selected anymore.
Teleporters will not teledismember or teleport foes into structures/objectes, even when bloodlusted.
Character chemistry is a factor.
Elimination for all battle are by KO, death or incapacitation.
MOST IMPORTANT RULE: Debate respectfully. This whole competition is about arguing, so you're going to be told everything you think about characters you love is wrong. Deal with it like an adult. Any disrespectful debating can be grounds for disqualification. Play nice, and HAVE FUN!
*POST LIMIT*:
in light of the many battle tourneys lately presenting insufficient or exaggerated posts, all battles will be restricted to 7 battle posts plus one summation post where you can make closing arguments but NOT add any new information not offered before hand. Debaters can uses the 7 however they see fit to make their case. This should hopefully make it an easier read and more likely to actually get some votes
How does this work?
Subscribe to a single category, pick the division parameters in which you would like to debate, and I will create the battle for the first two who sign in for the same "bout". If you win, you are already the champion, waiting for a new challenge, and so on, just like in UFC.
If a champion isn't able to fight anymore, for whatever reason, the next one in line becomes the interim champion, and must accept the next challenge in order to be crowned as a true champion.
Choose your battle conditions, following the CaV style, the two of you will tell me if you want prep, no prep, BFR disabled, etc. However, you will both be going into this battle blind. I will decide the remaining conditions, perks, goals, etc. So you will debate on an even playing field.
When players are locked in, I'll create a PM. I will create a PM once you are all ready to go. This should take about a week or more to set up, just an FYI. So if you're in another tournament, this won't start for awhile, so no worries there.
Don't challenge an opponent, If you want, you can sign up and wait to be challenged.
You can't sign up for more than one division at the same time. You must finish your fight in order to go for another. You are also not allowed to be the first one in more than two classes, in order to give opportunity to the other members.
If you lose, do not panic, you can try again, but you must go to the end of the line, since you are not a "top contender" anymore.
What makes this tournament unique?
Well, unlike other tournaments, this offers more customization for the debaters. You choose your conditions and your teams from round to round, and you are not stuck with a static team. This allows each round to cater to the players needs.
Tournament Rules:
§ All parties involved in a debate must state they are ready for voting before votes are taken into consideration. Meaning anyone who votes prior to this point will be discounted.
§ Personal attack are prohibited. At any point, if you insult your fellow debater(s), and they feel personally insulted, I will ask you apologize for the jest. I'm not talking about joking around, or meaningless jabs at one another, I'm talking about over the line insulting and ridicule. If someone is offended, either apologize, or under the even someone really crosses a line, they will be flagged and kicked out of the tournament.
§ Feats must be backed up with scans, or at the very least sourced. For example, if you know something happened and what issue it's from, but don't have the scan, just source the issue. If you can find the scan, great. However, if you are just pulling information off a wiki, and can't find what issue it's actually from, then as far as I'm concerned it is irrelevant. Even sourcing the Story Arc would be fine.
§ Follow the character rules, battle rules, and the scenarios given.
§ As always, respect each other.
Character Rules
No one shot or limited feat characters... Everyone you choose must meet one of the following criteria (and yes, it has to be the version you are using that fits it): Appeared in 10 or more comics, Appeared in 5 or more manga books, Have at least 10 minutes of combat showings, be a major character in at least one book, appeared in at least 5 episodes of their tv series. If your character doesn't follow this criteria or is from another source you may ask, but they probably won't be allowed.
Picking someone outside the guidelines is forbidden... They will be instantly removed from your team if they are revealed to be well above the guidelines, and you will be forced to debate absent one player!
No nerfing! We can eliminate powers, that's okay. However, no picking 100+ tonners and then toning them down to be 5-6 tonners or whatever. If they have a power that is above the limits, they are simply not allowed. This includes power amping themselves to above the limits.
No equipment outside of their universe, or what they have been seen using... You can make a case for Deadpool with adamantium katanas. You cannot make a case for Deathstroke with the muramasa
Teams and Character dynamics:
You will be picking from a set of guidelines and debating with characters that fit that criteria...That is, you will be picking from: Street Level Threat, Street Level Threat+, City Level Threat, Planetary Threat, Cosmic Threat, or Cosmic Teambuster
Team size is limited. No greater than 5 characters. Fights with more than five team members tend to go crazy and extremely confusing.
Teams are allowed to be voted on... Not just by you two, but by everybody involved in the tournament. If someone is unfamiliar with a character, and you try to take advantage of that and sneak in someone who is overpowered, you will be punished, or that character may be thrown out.

@higorm: There's quite a large gap between city level and planetary (80 ton to Hulk level, mach 8 to Wonder Woman?). I recommend adding one or a few intermediary weight classes, like island or moon level. I wanted to sign up and use a few Dragon Ball characters, but the ones I'm interested in don't really fit within any of the classes.
@nickzambuto: Would you mind to post (in the same shape of the others) said intermediary weight classes in the way you see it? Just so I can add to the divisions..
Hummm, I like this idea, but the question is, do I go for some obvious loopholes in some rules or a well thought out plan using some of the people in my obscure knowledge list?
Ex. Technically Sue Storm would be considered Street by these rules.
@misterwhisper: Well, I get the final say about rules so if i consider a character being too obscure it won't be allowed, as well as battle conditions, since you must work it with your opponent..
@higorm: Great idea! How long will this tournament go on though? Unless I'm misunderstanding something, the champion will continue to fight until he's defeated, then that person will continue to fight, so does this ever end?
I'd like to join Street with Grimalkin the Witch Assassin from The Last Apprentice book series. She's an assassin with a bunch of magic.( Nothing that would break the rules, a couple that increase her stats and a spell that indices fear, but it can be resisted with will power )
