Mercer all the way. 
 
He is too damned durable, too strong, too fast, and can one-shot cole, or strait consume. 
 
Cole can hold mercer off for a bit, and maybe even get in some good shots, he's got good energy projection, but he just isn't in anywhere near the same category for physical feats. Too squishy to take any of mercer's shots.
