Both of these networks seemed to hit their golden ages in the mid to late 90s and early 2000s both have had some seriously amazing cartoons that impacted my childhood greatly, but the question is, which had the better shows???
Cartoon Network had such great shows as:
- Ed, Edd, & Eddy
-Cow & Chicken
- Dexter's Laboratory
-PowerPuff Girls
-Johnny Bravo
etc
while Nickelodeon had such classics as
-Rugrats
-Catdog
-Angry Beavers
- Hey Arnold!
-All That
-Invader Zim
question is..which is better??
Classic Nickelodeon vs Classic Cartoon Network
Cartoon Network...Toonami ftwI agree, but with voice overs, Cartoon Network over Toonami. They used different voice actors for some reason.
cartoon network. When you said classic nick i thought you were referring to shows like are you afraid of the dark.Clarissa Explains it All
well actually i'm referring to that too, it came on around the same time as the ones i listed, just didn't wanna list them allcartoon network. When you said classic nick i thought you were referring to shows like are you afraid of the dark.
This Classic Nickelodeon icon makes a pass interference by throwing dangerbombs out of the dangermobile giving the win for Classic Nickelodeon.
Plus he calls this team as back up to slime any stranglers or run them over with a schoolbus.
Lastly a black ops mission by this icon to clean up the mess and deal with any witnesses.
Wow, Invader Zim is considered "Classic" Nickelodeon??
I am oooooooold...
I was thinking more so Round House, Nick News, and the Secret World of Alex Mack.
Well I would say CN but they been screwing us over for years now
whereas nickolodean.....well.......
Cartoon Network had/has toonami and Adult swim and introduced me to anime and adult cartoons that I learned to grow and love. Nickelodeon has/had all the kiddy shows and the only time I'd really watch them would be on saturday night(Snick) and sundays(before Cartoon network stepped their game up) I watched nick first but when I saw Cartoon Network I sticked with it. Courage the Cowerdly dog, Sheep in the big city, Hong kong Foey, all the Hanna Barbara cartoons. Cartoons all night and day of all ages> sub par cartoons and hit and miss real tv shows from nick. Kenan and Kel, Cousin Skeeter, Doug, Rocko's modern life, Wild and crazy kids, Hey arnold, rug rats, tiny toons, all that (first seasons), and angry beavers are the exceptions of sub par and miss rl tele shows. Nowadays, CN still has better cartoons and only Adult swim really going for them. Nick has worse cartoons and worse real tvs shows. (Excluding the nicklodeon cartoon channel which has it's moments. )I rather watch Mtv,Vh1, fox, bet, spike tv, sci fi, or the food network over these failed channels now though . Old Cartoon Network Beats Old Nick In a 5 min 1st round under 3 mins of fierce battle in reflection of what the two shows used to have before they died.
CN in a stomp...

CN takes it. Mostly due to Toonami and Fridays.

Wow, Invader Zim is considered "Classic" Nickelodeon?? I am oooooooold... I was thinking more so Round House, Nick News, and the Secret World of Alex Mack.I was thinking the same thing......what about "Salute your Shorts" and "Hey Dude", lets not forget "Todays Special" the show that made me terrified of mannequins for the rest of my life.........aaah kids these days.......they don't have any shows that unintentionally scare the sh*t out of them
Im going with cartoon network. But my true loyalty is with classic wb saturday mornings.
Agreed. Those were awesome :)
this is a hard one.
Both played a big part in my childhood.I was in love with the Rugrats,i remember my cousin was like Angelica and i was more Susie like.We argued all the time at who was better or had the better dresses or make -up lol.I loved Beavers too and Wild Thornberry's.Cant forget Hey Arnold...."Ahhh Real monsters" used to scare the crap out of me =/
Then there was Sponge Bob and Jimmy Neutron, and i loved those toons too.lets not forget snick/teen nick. "All that" and the "Amanda show"..lol "Amanda please!"
i like Kenan and Kel...this is a tough decision
Oh and Nick jr with Dora <3(still love her)
Cartoon Network had Powerpuff Girls <3 ,Dexters lab(dee dee get out my laboratory!") Ed Edd n Eddy(was stupid at first, but i started appreciating it)
Johnny Bravo,Scobby Doo.Looney Tunes,Tom n Jerry.
So many classics *sigh*
but CN introduced me to sin>:)
Toonami got me into real violent action packed stuff like DBZ,Thundercats, JLA,Teentitans,Gudham Warriors,Kenshi and other anime. This is around the time i started to become a tomboy and my bother really got me into comics and superheroes...then there was ADULT SWIM back in 2000
lol my mom would unplug my tv if she caught me watching it,i'd have to sneak and watch futurama, home movies and crap like that.
you know what...screw it!
DISNEY FTW!!!!!!
j/p hard decision really...
@The Stegman:
ah so you're a fan of the old nick and cartoon network shows eh? shame CN didn't air the Spiderman animated series. I missed out on that because of them. least we got to watch Batman. and as for the PPG's they looked like they were developed too fast and had too much whey protein lmao
So...you resurrected my precious childhood so it could fight among itself for your amusement.....I hate you, I hope Billy and Mandy come for you in your sleep with Grim's scythe
Nickelodeon just edges out the win. Where I'm from, the majority of the cartoons on Cartoonetwork were on cable t.v.
yes, yes i amSo...you resurrected my precious childhood so it could fight among itself for your amusement.....I hate you, I hope Billy and Mandy come for you in your sleep with Grim's scythe
Fond child hood memories of the past...
CN had more balance imo, but Hey Arnold is one of my fav's ever, i didn't cry much as a child but Hey Arnold got me doing it(the only one during the classics i believe) even now it makes tear up sometimes, which puts it on par with my current things i watch like scrubs(older eps) and Futurama(when they try they get sadnesss done right), all that unnecessary typing was just to help my mind figure out this difficult answer, i'll say Nick
