Welcome to this all new CAV, and its going to be a good one. Two heavy hitters going head to head in an all out battle. I'm defending Goku (for the first time) while SodomYat is defending The God of Thunder, Thor. Who reigns victorious?
Well there isn't much about Goku to say that hasn't already been said. Probably the most popular anime/manga character in history, there aren't many places that you can go where a little kid hasn't tried to do a Kamehameha (I did as a child and I'm pretty sure you did as well). So I'm not going to go deep into his history, I'm just going to touch up on the basics.
Goku isn't human.
Goku is Saiyan
Saiyan's are aliens.
Those aliens turn into giant apes.
Those giant apes are scary.
Goku is the scariest.
That pretty much covers the basics and now into his powerset and why he can and will beat Thor.
Speed
Goku has FTL travel speed
Travels around the planet Namek before anyone can react...
Things we all know
He also FTL combat and reaction speed (Do you want proof of this or do words suffice?)
Well just to be on the safe side....
Outspeeds Solar Flare and gets sunglasses....
I don't really need to post much to convince anyone that Goku is faster than Thor. But I'll get to that later on.
Strength:
Goku is not as strong as Thor..................................in lifting strength, but striking is a different issue altogether.
Here in SSJ1 (which we'll cover later on) he wrecks Freiza with one punch.
Oh, wait aint this the same Frieza that survived a planet explosion, while unconscious, with half a body?
(Just to make the Thor surviving that doomsday device exploding a planet while Thor was unconscious look laughable, Frieza did it with half a body lol.)
Am I outright saying that Goku has planetary level striking? No, at least not outright saying it ;).
Durability:
He can stop a sword with his finger.....
Few moments earlier that sword did this
Just in case you forgot, Frieza survived a planet explosion....with half a body....while unconscious.
But then comes the argument of why Goku was desperately searching for a ship while on Namek if he had planetary level durability. Well, he can't breathe in space so even though he can survive the explosion, Toriyama hadn't introduced the ability without giving an explanation or a logical reason (at least until BotG, where Goku just suddenly learns how to breathe in space).
Energy Projection:
Energy blast over planetary. Now Thor's durability is at least planetary as well, but he has been KO'ed by less and Goku can put out much greater than planetary blasts.
Ways he can beat Thor:
Speedblitz- he is way faster and has physicals to suggest that he would give Thor a bruisin'. That coupled with his insane advantage that he has in pure skill and Thor would be lucky to land a hit on even base Goku. Good luck proving otherwise.
Energy Output- he can easily destroy planets with energy manipulated blast, Thor has a few planet busting durability feats but Goku can put out much more than he can stand
This should be a good teaser.
Note: If you were expecting some long, drawn out intro then that's not my style. I wan't to save the juicy stuff for when the real debate begins. Keeps you on your toes.
So @sodamyat lets get the intros out the way so we can start this thing.
For my openeer I will list some of Thor's numerous abilities and showcase a few of them with scans
His powers include:
Superhuman strength exceeding 100 tons by far
Superhuman durability allowing him to tank insane levels of damage
Superhuman reflexes
High levels of stamina which allows him to fight months without rest
Manipulation of every form of weather
Manipulation over the earth
Energy projection
Energy manipulation
Energy absorption
Capable of opening portals
Capable of creating force-fields
Capable of flying at faster than light speed
SPEED
Thor is always conscious to hold back while on earth for fear of destroying it and or injuring the denizens of midgard. But he does have better travel speed and combat speed then he typically shows. While he has many more speed feats than I will show, I wont clutter this section with feats that arent fast enough to matter.
Here we have confirmation that Thor's brain can process bullets coming at him and successfully see them slow enough that he can react and swat them away with Mjolnir.
Here we have Thor reacting to Mjolnir which is much faster than light.
Here we have thor moving in blur speeds just like dbz chararacters
Here we have Thor reacting to and catching Hermes:
I can go into more detail later. But for now I have established that Thor can react to objects that are FTL, speedsters, and even through in a scan showing he can move faster than humans can see just because thats something DBZ characters do.
I stop here for now because I only wanted to establish that Thor can react to and block Goku level speeds.
STRENGTH
Now I'll move on and establish Thors far superior strength:
Here we have Thor lifting the midgard serpent that is bigger than earth
I'll just leave this singular scan since its more than Goku has ever lifted.
DURABILITY
Tanking the forces of a neutron star
Tanking an attack with the power of an expoding sun
I stop here because Goku has never tanked an exploding sun or neutron star.
STRIKING
Another huge advantage for Thor.
Here he is destroying a planet as a by product of hitting BRB. So he didnt even directly attack the planet and he destroyed it.
And here he is shattering worlds around him with his strikes against Gor. Keep in mind that they are exploding just from shockwaves of thors mighty blows.
Another good stopping point as Goku has never blown up planets(although i think its implied heavily he can) much less from just shockwaves of his blows
ENERGY PROJECTION
Goku isnt the only one that has ranged attacks.
Here we have Thor blasting and hurting the mighty Thanos himself who has survived being in a black hole. That goes to show how powerful thors blasts are.
I can go in to that further as well, at a later time.
ENERGY ABSORPTION
This will play a big part in this battle if and when Goku attemps a ranged attack.
Here we have Thor absorbing a blast from Odin. The all father himself.
That alone might be more impressive anything Goku has ever conjured.
STRATEGY/SUMMARY
So just as my opening statement I have proved Thor is fast enough to tangle with gokus speed and is far stronger and has very powerful striking capabilities.
My strategy doesnt involve Thor using out of character powers he's used twice in 70 years. My strategy is simple:
Goku is childish. He never goes all out. Thor will use that to his advantage and gauge Gokus style, tactics, and abilities. He will quickly see that he must not hold back his speed or strength and he will see something that is blatantly obvious which is that Goku sometimes likes to use ranged attacks and so he must spin mjolnir and deflect the blast or simply absorb it.

There was no indication of how fast Mjolnir was going in that scan. Hell Hulk has dodge Mjolnir before as well.

He can almost move quicker than mere mortal eyes could follow, almost. Wolverine and street levelers actually have moved faster than mortal eyes could keep up with.
I stop here for now because I only wanted to establish that Thor can react to and block Goku level speeds.
You haven't proved that he can keep up at all.

You're correct. He has way better lifting feats than Goku, something I stated in my opener.

Yes and I can post scan upon scan of Thor being KO'ed or Incap'd by much less. His blunt force damage isn't as high as his resistance to energy based attacks and he has been KO'ed by less than star level attacks.
STRIKING

That tiny "planet" in Blood and Thunder was more of an asteroid than a planet. I mean Thor and BRB's size is easily comparable to this "planet".
And if we're on the subject of Blood and Thunder then allow me to show you Thor not being able to tag Gamora at all

Here it is stated that skill beats strength in regards to Thor, now imagine that skill but amplified and put on a being that is leagues faster than Gamora. That is essentially what Thor is dealing with, so all of these strikes mean nothing because they won't connect.
And here he is shattering worlds around him with his strikes against Gor. Keep in mind that they are exploding just from shockwaves of thors mighty blows.
I see no Planet's shattering. I see one planet with a deep crack and the one they are over with a ravine. I see no planets being destroyed at all.
But lets refer back to our friend Frieza. The Supreme Kai states that each of the Kais would have been able to one shot Frieza. The same guy with over planetary level durability.
So these kais are oneshotting people with planet/multi-planet level durability and they under their own admittance were weaker than both Goku and Vegeta at the end of Buu saga.

Where was Thanos hurt...at all.
STRATEGY/SUMMARY

You haven't prove that in the slightest. Goku's whole MO is speed, precision strikes, and energy blast. What's stopping him from speed blitzing Thor's pressure points?

Goku can be childish but he is truly a battle genius. He may not be the strategist that Vegeta is but he is still very adept at holding his own in battles. He is almost always serious against powerful opponents. And how is Thor going to gauge Goku's abilities when there is no indication that you will even perceive him.
