CaV: Gladiator vs Apollo

Rules of the Fight:

• Each character has there standard equipment, if any.
• Each character will be taking the fight seriously, but this will be a random encounter and with there current morals.
• The match will take place a couple hours after sunrise.
• The versions being used are Wildstorm's Apollo and Marvel Universe 616 Gladiator
• Any win condition other then BFR is acceptable.

Setting:

• Each character starts at there respective positions, but the battle can go anywhere on earth and space, but can't go past Venus or Mars.

Rules of the Vote:

• Requires atleast 500 posts and a short explanation or reason of your vote, or if you are <500, It requires you to post a detailed explanation of your vote. (Anyone that doesn't fill one of these requirements won't count aganist the vote)
• Please leave your bias at the door, We don't care if you hate Marvel, DC/Wildstorm, Cosmiclyaware or Me. If you feel you can't vote without bias, please don't.
• Please refrain from interfering within the debate itself.
• Have a nice time reading, and be respectful on your criticism.

I kind of can see where this battle will go and the types of arguements that will be used to justify either's case. But its going to be fascinating to see what watch them fold out anyway. Tag me guys :)

@pr0metheus: looks good man, wouldn't change anything. I will be able to get an intro and opener up tomorrow morning/afternoon, gonna crash soon. If you get to it before me, have at it.....

I would take Gladiator to defeat Apollo for a few reasons.

1. In terms of Strength, Gladiator was able to smash up a Barren Planet with his bare hands... Apollo had a nice feat of smashing up a ship the size of a Continent... but I think smashing a planet even a small one is better than smashing something up the size of a Continent. Now Gladiator has been a bit inconsistent with his feats but moreover they have had him fighting guys like Hulk and Thor and Hyperion ( who are all well into Class 100 strength ) on nearly equal footing. Apollo has had his moments but not against such high caliber characters.

2. In terms of Speed, Gladiator was clocked at 100 times faster than light... don't even know if Apollo is light speed. Now you may say that well that's just travel speed and it's not reaction speed... but Gladiator was able to throw strikes in nanoseconds against Hyperion... so he has that too. Apollo's speed is not really been clocked. So it's hard to say how fast he reacts or moves... the same for his strength. I mean it's stated that Apollo is Majestic level... but when has he moved planets like Majestic ? Or beaten someone of the scale of power as The Eradicator during his Wildstorm run ?

1. But why do I need to wait for the debators to explain their sides ? What if I already know enough about the characters to make a good judgement call on a vote ?

2. That's kind of weird... considering the evidence for each character and their capability would be the same regardless of who debates it. It's all about knowledge of the characters at hand... not just who is presenting cases for each side.

3. No, because most battle threads you don't need to Tag for Votes. It's what it is... the discussion takes place and the users vote as they think who would actually win.

Gladiator

Biography:

Kallark, codenamed Gladiator, was once the Praetor of the Shi'ar Imperial Guard, the most faithful servant of the Shi'ar throne. After the Shi'ar-Kree War, with the apparent death of Lilandra and Vulcan, Kallark is elevated to the position of Majestor by consensus of a desperate Shi'ar populace. He has been one of the Marvel Universes most powerful cosmic heavy hitters for quite some time and has a close comparison to DC's Superman in powerset (he was actually patterned off of him. Kallark = Clark). He has served in the team of Annihilators and had glorious battles throughout the cosmos. A powerful individual indeed.

Powers and Abilities:

Kallark exhibits abilities in line with the "Superman archetype" which include:

• class 100 strength
• flight and insane speeds
• insane durability and invulnerability
• energy output in the form of a "heat vision"
• "ice breath" / "freeze breath"
• undefined psionic abilities
• enhanced sensory perceptions

Gladiator. The Mohawk is awesome.

Love Gladiator, but really wanna pull for Apollo.

Bio:

Apollo was once "normal" like you and me, However a man named Henry Bendix changed both his and Midnighter's life by doing experiment's of them causing them to gain superhuman powers. Midnighter got the tactical ability while Apollo got the powerhouse ability. Apollo's abilities are almost exactly like Superman's, even getting them from the sun. Apollo has been described as "Majestic level"

Power's and Abilities:

• "Majestic Class" Strength
• Super Speed
• Invulnerability
• Heat Vison
• AoE Light Attack (However, this drains him very hard)
• Super Senses
• Teleportation through the carrier

I believe that I quoted you in the "CaV's you'd like to see" thread stating that more Wildstorm characters needed to be used (correct me if I'm wrong please). So I have a strong feeling on what you were referring to here lol............

That was my thoughts originally. But upon looking further I think there is scope for some kind of debate, and I'm interested to see whether the agruements for Apollo would be what I would use
