Captain Atom never fought Superman Prime, at least not one from Earth 1 which should be the one in op. It was Earth 51 Captain Atom in a monitor suit, Monarch, who fought Superman Prime and actually lost.

Monarch has far better feats than Captain Atom, after all the whole purpose of the suit was to amp his stats. Hank Hall (Hawk from Hawk and Dove) was the first person to actually use the Monarch suit and from a barely Blue Beetle level he was able to go toe to toe with Justice League, has abilities like teleportation, time travel etc. Furthermore, Monarch was able to defeat an army of 41 Superman level being, rather handily one shot various alternate reality Captain Atom and make a mockery of few green lanterns, few wonder women and 3 Supermen , in separate occasions.

Captain Atom would win, but using Monarch feat isnt fair.

I saw a scan where he [Captain Atom] said that the suit didnt amp him at all. I suppose it's possible that he was just boasting, but that's what he said.

iirc, he was amping himself a fair bit after absorbing all the alternate cap atoms, which really boosted him, hence why he got so powerfull. He did state to SMP that the suit/armour was just containing him/his energies and more a less a protection for everone/thing else, which more or less was true when SMP ripped it open. How much it actually helped boosting/adding to his powers? has it been shown/stated anywhere?

I would love to see the scans if you have. But yeah that has to be huge context or its just a boost, how do you go from a JLA hero to being threat to entire monitor armada? How do you, without an amp go from being a Superman level character to one shotting Supermen right , left and center?

@WillPayton: Props for posting the entire fight, i do have the issue seemed to have missed that part. I am still going to chuck it as an empty hollow boast, or a unsubstantive claim from Captain Atom. Is there really a reason why Earth 51 Captain Atom should be more powerful than any other universe captain atom, after all he made a joke out of an army of 39 Captain Atom attacking him, even went on to one shot most of them. Doesnt fit what he has done.
