@Enemybird: Say what you want about Reed and Who but I know for a fact that Lex and Bruce are awesome stratagist and wouldnt have let some punk kid kill them so easily. Lex is so smart the only person he considers an equal is Braniac, I repeat BRANIAC!!! Dont you dare say that L could beat Braniac in a chess match. And Batman is Batman nuff said. He's better than L in martial arts (100% sure), more well rounded in genius (90% sure) and has better detective feats (damn true, tell me some L feats that put him above batman). Batman has a plan on how to take down the entire justice league. Im sorry but L shouldnt be on here. He has only dealt with the supernatural once and lost. The rest of theses guys deal with that shit almost always and find a way to come out on top. Its like the best detective in his middle school detective club going up against someone from the FBI or CIA. Almost all these guys are playing on a different level of genius.

Yeah, but L got taken out by a guy with the power of a Death God... who's power is simply to kill people. He didnt just get taken out by some thug, or even some supervillain.

You're pointing out irrelevant examples like who's better in martial arts, a better scientist, etc... What does that have to do with chess though? Chess is game that plays to L's strengths. You have to be able to predict your opponents next move. In chess there are but so many outcomes that could happen as a result of an opponents move. I think L's intelligence is great enough so that he would be able to understand what that person was planning to do as he has done countless times in Death Note. watch video above.
Chess is a poor choice. This is because there is literally always a counter move. Since I'm guessing that all these guys could if they spent some time, figure out every move scenario, then it would just end in a lot of stalemates.
