Mismatch, the Borg in an easy fight, they quickly adapt to the Covenants weapons and assimilate their troops.

How big is the borg emprie?

The Covenant at their top had millions of capital ships with thousands reaching up to 50 kilometers in lenght and possesing trillions of soldiers.

Thousands of star systems and trillions of drones and far superior technoloty. The Covenant would be a feast for the collective. It really is a mismatch.

The Borg

The Covenant also have control of an entire Galaxy arm (i don't know how much stars there are, but i believe it's above hudnreds of thousands) and also posses a very capble tecnology to deal with the brog. But they are dumb and the borg will probably assimilate it.

I will just copy and paste :D

Tons of Covenant troops, including many Elite have camouflage, so invisibility isn't going to be any trouble. Not sure what selected shields are, but Elites have energy shields and Jackals have their gauntlet shields that have been able to easily tank full clips of fire from various weapons. I also highly doubt the Helghast Space Cruisers can even touch the Covenant ones, as their larger ships can glass entire planets. Their smaller ones have shields that have been able to tank MAC (Magnetic Accelerator Cannon) shots, and in The Cole Protocol, it was stated that a full-on ram from a UNSC Frigate resulted in said frigate to have to be fished out due to its injuries.

And yet their are severely outmatched in terms of technology and numbers. Covenant troops are largely seen as sacrificial and expendable. They are a collection of more than five alien races. Five complete alien races. It's also to note that Covenant ships can glass planets from a matter of days to hours. Reach, a planet that was heavily defended by MAC cannons, SPARTAN-II's, SPARTAN-III's, countless UNSC Marines/Orbital Drop Shock Troopers, Scorpion tanks, Pelican ships, and more, was trumped by the Covenant without too much effort.

According to the Halo lore, the Covenant beam cannons are scaled up particle rifles, like from the game. If we take their word that a beam rifle is about the same power as a 14.5mm anti armor round and then scale that up to the size of covenant capital ships (we'll say about 1000,000,000 times the size) that comes out to an optimum power output of 100 TJ. One could add an order of magnitude to account for the long range and any energy inefficiencies. Enough to gut 2 meters of fullerene.

Take for instance the Super-MAC gun from HALO 2. It fires a 3000 ton slug at 4% the speed of light (which is insane) and has a 46.5 gigaton yield. That's 10 times the total yiled of all nuclear weapons in the world at the height of the cold war. This was the only crazy weapon outside nukes capble of piercing trough Covenant ships shiels.

Weird to reply to such an old thread but I just finished watching TNG for the first time and have been watching a ton of Voyager. I also have played most of the Halo games (but not 5 because I am done with 343).

I'd say that the Borg would win this one. The Covenant have superior numbers, but they would have no hope of overcoming the Borg's ability to adapt. Their plasma based weapons would work a few times at most before the Borg shields would be able to completely block any damage. It is difficult to predict how Covenant shields would cope with Borg phasers, but the Borg would likely be able to adapt to damage them in the end. As we have seen in the Halo games, Covenant shields even fall to projectile based weapons like bullets if they are overwhelmed, whereas Borg shields can completely block any damage at all from phasers from multiple ships.

Also, if any Covenant are assimilated by the Borg, the knowledge gained will put the Borg at an incredible advantage. Yep, Borg win

Covenant curb, Borg adaptation is overrated. It sure as hell didn't stop Worf or Delta from beating them down with their bare hands did it?

What do you think? @wut@killerwasp
