Black Widow vs Batroc (Movie)

Settings:

• Basic knowledge, but no prep.
• Gear is round dependent.
• Fight is on a battleship (like the one in CATWS). Both start 250 yards apart non visible.
• Morals on, looking to kill.
• Round 1: Black Widow has no firearms, only her electric gauntlets, grappling gun ect
• Round 2: No gear, H2H only in a dojo, start 15 feet apart.

And yes I watched it. It blew every other CBM to date out of the water. Even Avengers, Nolan trilogy and MOS.

I probably can't make a solid decision until I've at least rewatched TWS, since my memory is a little iffy. But I might lean with Black Widow here for R1. She's always shown functional HTH capability, and in her encounter with the Winter Soldier (which is similar to the R1 scenario here, I believe), she really impressed me with her ability to outsmart a physically-superior opponent. As far as general combat (firefights and maneuverability) goes, Widow simply has more feats than Batroc in that respect.

And while Batroc did do awesome against Cap in HTH, once Steve got serious, his ass was beat (one of my favorite scenes in the movie). Though, credit to Batroc for putting up a good fight, and he was also able to recover fairly quickly after getting the beatdown from Cap. But I think that even if it got to close-range, Widow can still close the apparent skill gap with her Widow gauntlets and Widow Sting gadgets.

I feel like a nuke just went off and we're the only two left.

I think I agree with your round 1. Although I'm honestly leaning towards BR for round 2. He had such an unpredictable style and he's much bigger than Widow. It'd be a good fight but with no weapons and nowhere to run I think he's got Widows number.

Having said that... how freaking awesome was Batroc though? I mean Cap did kick his ass afterwards, but he still did pretty well with his Savate. I also think that anyone who said "Cap is only good with his shield" can now be silent after that fight.

Yeah, I'm glad the actor got to show off his MMA chops. Unlike the Red Skull or The Winter Soldier, for someone who had no enhancements, he put up a hell of a fight against Steve. But seriously, that moment when Batroc was taunting Steve, and then Cap replied in French? I went, "Awwww sheeeeet - now you're screwed, Batroc". I predict people are going to start pulling this feat whenever a skill vs. strength discussion comes up in a MCU Cap vs. Nolan Bats thread.

But yeah, I can agree with you on R2. In a confined location and when it comes down to raw HTH, Widow simply doesn't have any advantages to close to skill gap. Batroc had Cap pretty much on the ropes in the earlier portion of their encounter. Do you remember what was mentioned about Batroc's fighting skill in the earlier STRIKE briefing? I think there was something stated there...but I can't quite recall.

Side question: Is this the first TWS thread on the Battles board?

Yeah that's partly why I liked him. He's no super soldier, he's just this French badass who's real good at kicking people. And I didn't even remember Cap replying in French.. that was so awesome.

Er.. it said something like he had dozens of kills to his name or something. "This guy has a rep for maximum casualties" There's a youtube clip of it but it basically cuts out all the actual details about Batroc.. I guess we can only wait!

Oh btw.. was I the only one lmao at Natashas complete lack of subtlety in the opening fight on the boat? Cap would just get done choking someone out quietly and be like "Natasha, status report", as she proceeds to empty two clips into one guy then start tazing everyone.

The best parts the second one where he chases a group of cars and his motor cycle becomes a glider.

What follows is ten minutes of cars driving;while a distant figure can be seen hang gliding around . Its too far away to tel if theres an actual person attached to the glider and its the same three shots over and over again :P

What does Arnim Zola look like? I'm one of those people who embraces spoilers rather than disregarding them. I waited too long for this movie to come out dammit! Like hell I don't want to know what happens before I see it. :P

He's just a sort of, green, rough, digitalized face on a monitor. You can faintly make out his glasses and facial features.
