Black Canary vs Black Widow (Hand to Hand)

What the title says, two female femme fatales in a straight up hand to hand confrontation. No tech, no Canary Cry.

Two rounds.

Round 1: Takes place inside the UFC Octagon

Round 2: Takes place on an unpopulated street. There are cars and objects (such as trash cans and similar common city street items) and both combatants can go inside buildings if they must.

Who wins and why?

Pre-52 Canary's taken down some of the DCU's best fighters like Lady Shiva and Bronze Tiger - both fighters who could match with the likes of Batman. She's also trained with top-tier fighters like Shiva, Wildcat, Sensei, and Wonder Woman.

Widow relies on firearms and her stingers. She's had good showings in HTH, but then again she did lose to Bucky, despite her physical enhancements. Also curious, when did she best Cap?

@veshark: I'm not well versed with most of those characters so I'll take your word for it.

I think they were sparring, I can't remember the context. But when you brought that up it reminded me, it was probably Cap-Bucky; not Rogers.

Pre n52 Black Canary was a deadly hand to hand fighter. She fought evenly with, or defeated several of DC's top martial artists.

Black Widow isn't all that great in the pantheon of martial artists. I don't remember her defeating very many top level fighters, and I felt like she was your typical jobber. One of those characters that gets some hype, but then loses to build the rep of other characters. (Unlike pre n52 Black Canary who actually did well against top level fighters.)

So I'd say that Widow would lose to pre n52, but defeat n52 Canary.

The training with Shiva you mentioned I think is from Birds of Prey. Shiva doesn't actually physically show her anything. She tutors her for about a year. Sends her letters with new moves or a diet to follow. Canary was trained by one of the women that trained Shiva in the same environment. This was right around DC's One Year Later business. She works with Green Arrow for the first time since her Shiva training and he comments that she was always good but now she's scary good. Ollie sucks so take from that what you will haha.

How old is that Tiger fight? Late 80's maybe. So happy they changed her costume.

It's the original Squad series, you are right, it's from the 80s. And yeah, much prefer the leather and fishnets to that fashion disaster.
