Black Canary vs. Wonder Woman as a depowered Diana Prince in hand-to-hand combat. Who wins?
Black Canary vs. a depowered Wonder Woman
Oooooo tough one.... I'm probably going to go with a depowered Wonder Woman based on having an immortal life time of battle experience to draw on, but I think this could be a very close fight.
Black Canary. Six or seven times out of ten. She's more accustomed to fighting without powers or added stats than Diana is and I'd argue that she's a better technical fighter. Diana shines in melee when she's using weapons and when she has access to her powers. She has basics down and then some, that's par for the course with Amazons, but she's out of her comfort zone on this one.

This.
You really don't see Wonder Woman fight hand to hand all that much. This is a tough call.

What are you talking about?

Well, you do, but she uses her powers to make up for the lack of exceptional skill.
I try to tell people this, but they don't listen. You really don't see Wonder Woman fight hand to hand all that much.

Punching Giganta and Cheetah doesn't really count as H2H.

She's been talked up for years and people that aren't familiar with her take that word of mouth as fact. Person A says "Wonder Woman showed some skill in that one comic." and by the time it gets to person B it's become "Wonder Woman beat Batman and Superman with one arm while drunk."

I have scans of her and Dinah staff-fighting, but it's sparring and a bit ambiguous.
From Birds of Prey right?
@Pokeysteve: That'd be the one. But I can't remember if it's prior to her switch with Shiva and additional training.

What kind of consequences has WW from being depowered? Needs time do adapt?
WW knows about Canary Cry?
It means she doesn't have access to any of her powers that she'd normally have. Things like her enhanced durability and speed. She's fighting as a baseline human.
Dinah does not have access to her Canary Cry for this battle.
Hard to say... Dinah did score a point against WW when they were sparring (and WW was obviously holding back her stat advantage.) BUT from the narrative, it was pretty clear (to me, anyway) that Dinah was pleasantly surprised at being able to do that, and still regarded WW as the superior fighter. And the sparring match involved weapons as well...

Agreed.

It was way before the switch. Her skills increased noticeably (to other characters) after that.

Thank you. It's been at least a year since I read that run and I couldn't for the life of me remember.

No problem. I hate when that happens. I've read that run like 50 times it seems lol.
people tend beileve what they want 2. black canary is about the best female fighters there is. however, characters like superman and power girl tend rely mor e on powers than skill. as the man said in the other post. black canary acknowleges diana as the better fighter. black canary states, if let loose with a tenth of her strength or speed shed knock me 2 pluto. clearly diana isnt relying on her powers in the fight. besides ww came from an island where all they do is educate themselves and train 2 fight. granted dinah is the only female who probaly could beat a powerless diana had 2 hand besides shiva or barda. i think canary scores sum wins but diana 4 the majority. people always dowm play ww. diana is almost superman class, with batman level fighting skills. realistically, she should b able 2 mop the floor with superman. writers allow batman 2 consistantly beat opponents more powerful than him.
I say Wonder Woman for the majority. I'm willing to give Dinah the edge in technical skill, but considering their characters...Wonder Woman is not giving up or going down. People forget that Wonder Woman is one of the most determined, tenacious characters in comics, and nothing short of a KO is going to make her stop, and I think she's just skilled enough to keep Dinah from doing that. In the Tower of Babel storyline, Batman's safeguard against her is to make her mentally fight a never-ending battle, because he knew that nothing short of her heart stopping would make her quit. In the Birds of Prey posted earlier, it seems like Wonder Woman was being a good friend and took the hit...but in a real fight, she wouldn't hold back.
Lmao Canary is stomping shit if that's with equalized stats...
For years back in the 70's Diana was depowered she's still better even canary says so. Diana but good match
