Black Adam vs Zatanna

Round 1:Random encounter

Round 2: 3 days prep for both

Battle in Abandoned Metropolis

Please give your opinion for both DCNU and DCU.

Havent read DCNU Black Adam yet but Zatanna is way too versatile and i dont see her powers NOT working on him. She still has transmtation, time maniplation etc on her part. So unless Adam blitz i think he's in trouble here.

I dont think its in his character to blitz ppl, he's more likely to grab her by the throat and shout out some crap before he'd ideally want to rip her head out.. that being said zee can just say POTS and then use all her abilities, but i do have to admit backslash did show her lack of speed in (Zatanna Volume 2 Issue 12). Else with blitz out of the question she's been explained as a reality warper, she can freeze people, transmutate them, teleport them away (BFR), trap people in her hat etc.

@Killemall: Just to point out that the Demons Three are immune to at least part of her magic, specifically the POTS command and this is just because of what they are. Black Adam on the other hand is a magically fuelled Superman, which I personally doubt is going to be as easy to stop as that single word implies.

I'm just going by New Earth Black Adam.

A random encounter between their pre-Flashpoint versions could go either way depending on whether Adam gives her a chance to speak or not and if her first spell puts him down (stops him in his tracks or whatever).

@Stronger: is this the new 52 cause if it is we havent seen black adam fight yet so there no telling how powerful he is.

Zatanna is the poster child for glass cannons, how many team fights has she been in that start off with someone throat punching her or just knocking her out. If you where on her side the smart move would be to aim your powers at the area directly in front because you may as well make the most of her vulnerability.

I always picture Adam floating in the air with his arms crossed giving his opponents some supercilious speech or the other.......I will defer to your superior knowledge of Adam's character though.

Don't forget that Black Adam has high immunity to magic and even without straight out blitzing her he can just grab her a push her head into the ground

Is this the New52 Adam or pre52?....pre52 era Adams wins with ease imo via speed blitz....while New52 Adam is still a mystery

Look at he bottom of the OP.

I honestly think Black Adam would stomp in a random enounter.He has many ways of defeating her(thunderclap,electric blasts,speedblitzing and gagging her with his hand or even killing her by breaking her neck etc.)

However,with prep I 'd back Zat.She can find a spell to strip him off his powers or even bring help.

That goes or both versions.

PS:My brother thinks BA wins both rounds both versions.

Her powers have been explained as reality warping to which Adam isnt really immune, but then again she calls in a spell and was targeted by Spectre who was trying to destroy magic hard call. Yeah i suppose he could but well she has a lot of versatility, i am still skeptical to say her powers wont work on him. Brother Night himself is a pretty good magician and has immunity to most magic and so was the demon from hell which she faced her magic did work on them pretty well. Its just than when she fights someone who's a better magician she has problems because they can block and counter her spells. Never seen her magic fail to work on anyone before, so i am still a little skeptical.

she can sheild up though, seem to protect her from most things probably would protect her from the thunder clap as well. And like Bane most of the fight i have seen black adam in he generally either floats over or grab the neck and gives intimidating speeches before crushing their skulls. Also is he immune to say transmutation or being BFRed?

For people who arent well versed with Zatanna, here are some of her abilities as showcased on Zatanna volume 2 (2011)

Ability to magically freeze people

Shields

Telepathy abilities (not a one off thing she's used TP against Batman and Catwoman before)

Transmutation - the power i find most fancy and not a one time thing, she's used it 6 times in Volume 2 itself (out of the 13 comics) and was fast enough to transmutate bullets after being fired:)

Also she could turn werewolves into human rather easily probably could do the same to Black Adam - not sure though.

Also her powers have been explained as reality warping than magic, the scan is quite old but this has been re-iternated twice on Zatanna Volume 2 so i have no reason to believe this to be incorrect.

I still strongly believe if Black Adam doesnt go right for the kill he's in trouble here.

To be fair she has been stopped mid spell as well, in volume 2 itself (Issue 4 and issue 5), backlash showed her lack of speed too (vol 2 issue 12), so i do not see why Black Adam couldnt just blitz her, however as long as he doesnt do so i think he's in trouble.

Backlash was actually able to rewind time. He wasn't fast

That i know, but the point was he was able to hit the whip and rewind the time before her spell actually worked on him, that clearly shows how slow her spell works.

Since New-52 Black Adam has appeared on one page, I'm just going go about as if it were Pre-New 52 Adam.

Round 1: Black Adam. He's just way too fast for her, and he should definitely win this.

Round 2: Zatanna. She has plenty of time here to speak a bunch of backwards words, and I feel like she should win.

But in 52 Black Adam declares war on a small nation and Zatanna can do nothing to stop him.
