Best Battles in New Comics: 5/22/15

It's that time of the week. Time to look at the latest edition of Best Battles in New Comics. Comics often feature big battles with superheroes fighting supervillains. Sometimes we even have superheroes fighting other superheroes. Get ready to cheer and possibly cringe at the brutal punches being thrown.

There were so many good fights this week. It was tough to narrow it down to just three...

SECRET WARS: BATTLEWORLD #1

With Secret Wars underway, the new Battleworld is a mix of different versions of characters in separate regions all ruled by one person/god. What we find here is Doctor Strange has attached his soul to Punisher for a certain reason. Punisher has been crossing borders and has a few familiar yet different character chasing him.

The Four have been sent to bring him in. Punisher knows what that means. He's also not one to go without a fight. Add in Doctor Strange, we have a whole new sort of Punisher on our hands.

Apparently Frank Castle is a Jon Bon Jovi fan.

When Hulk takes his shot at Punisher, Frank might feel a little bad but still does the only thing he can.

It looks like Frank's handling the situation pretty well. There is still Ghost Rider and Wolverine to deal with.

You'll want to read the issue yourself to see how this fight goes. The fight might not be exactly as you think it would.

ARCHIE VS. PREDATOR #2

The first issue did deliver some deaths as a Predator now has made its way to Riverdale. While the gang witnesses an extremely brutal killing right in front of them, they try to get to safety. Betty tells Veronica she thinks she knows what's going on and who could help--Sabrina Spellman.

Unfortunately, things go really really badly for Sabrina.

That's bad but maybe not completely fatal, right? She's a witch. Maybe she could come up with a spell to help with this wound.

Nope. She won't get that opportunity.

Poor Sabrina. Looks like loyal Salem won't just stand around for this. Remember, he used to be a warlock himself. But then, he has been banished to the form of a cat.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. There are other deaths throughout the issue. We are talking about a Predator.

AVENGERS WORLD #21

I'll be honest, this might not have been one of the absolute biggest battles this week. It is one that's been long overdue and one we've been itching to see. With Namor betraying the Illuminati and working with the Cabal, we see him start to turn the tables on them.

Who would dare stand up to Thanos?

Namor's tough. But this is Thanos we're talking about.

The fight quickly comes to an end. Namor didn't really have a chance in this situation.

Is this the end for Namor?

Why is he smiling? We'd tell you but we're out of time!

Namor is so damned inconsistent nowadays, not too long ago he was said to not hit as hard as Ben Grimm and now he makes the mad titan bleed more than he bled when he got hit by warrior madness Thor with the power gem.

(edit) also him making thanos bleed is PIS.

That Battleworld fight looks awesome.

I also really enjoyed Shang Chi kicking some butt in Masters of Kung Fu.

I'm sure next month we will get to see the greatest fight of all-time(get it like as in all-father).

Namor is powerful Aye.

Best week ever.

Pretty pissed of Namor made Thanos bled with his punches.

Thanos is inconsistent.

Man, Sabrina's spine is really thick. It's even wider than her neck.

Namor has always been top tier when hydrated, Thor has never gone warrior madness, and certainly not with the power gem, gonna need canon scans if your going to make claims like that.

Is it weird I'm satisfied with Sabrina dying?

Finally, when I defend Namor in the Battle Forum I'll have recent scans. Sick of everyone saying he's not as tough as he was initially. This kind of durability is incredible. He passes New-52 Arthur in durability and strength most definitely. Namor made Thanos bleed with his fists like Arthur made Darkseid bleed with his trident. This is incredible. Roll atlantis rooollll

That Archie one is disturbing.

Maybe I'm missing something having not read the issue, but why on earth would a Predator attack Riverdale? They're not just your run of the mill slasher film killer; they have a code of honor and only seek out prey that actively fights back (IE; no targeting civilians unless they're stupid enough to attack HIM first, they won't kill pregnant women, etc.).

How is Convergence 7 not here?

@laflux: I was at first but Hickman later wrote that punching Thanos broke all the bones in his hand, so I'm not to fussed.

Man I feel sorry for Namor.

Finally we see Dr. Strange against hulk where he is not bound by morals. As a big fan of Steven I loved it ^_^

Heh Punisher Supreme going all-out. I like it.

I felt it only had one decent two-page spread of everyone fighting everyone. Then some random decent panels of Deimos (who?) fighting Telos. The only really cool thing, in my opinion was when a certain green-clad character stepped in. But that would be kinda spoilery for issue. The idea is to find a great battle that has enough for 3 or 4 pages/panels without giving away the entire issue (I want people to buy comics and keep the industry alive, etc).

Also, not a single person recommended CONVERGENCE or any Convergence issues.

And finally, we also encourage people to post what they felt was their favorite battles.

I agree. Too short. I loved the image but it needed to have a little more oomph to be able to be here.

@atheistknowledge: well you would expect that I mean Hulk has to be way too durable for Stephen to turn into dust.

@claymore1998: Probably, it kinda goes against their history a bit. I mean think of all the times Strange has had to take care of an rampaging Hulk and because of his morals he would never really harm him so he either tried to contain him or BFR him as a lest resort... If only he said "calm" it would have pretty much ended every tamper tantrum Hulk had lol. We would never even had the Crossroads storyline.

The Archie vs Predator is not a battle. It is a slaughterhouse. They had no chance not even the cat.

@teerack: Hey, what story is this from? Why the hell does Odin use a minigun and is it magical in any way? ??? I love it ,but I'm so confused! !

I wonder if this story will have consequences in Inferno.

For the record tho, that was not Warrior Madness Thor -- just a Thor driven nuts by the Mind Valkyrie -- a manifestation of the insanity brought on by Thor's identity manipulations thruout the years.

@g_man: The Convergence battle, and actually all convergence battles for that matter, this week were quite poor. Probably a good choice not including them! That Battleword scene is dope though!

I like the hulk but seeing punisher/strange deal with him like that was awesome.

I am aware of this... but for some reason it is stated in multiple places that he was under warrior madness.

Weird seeing Thanos bleed from someone like Namor.

Was really hoping to see the MODOK fight. That was the most hilarious thing in comics this week and one of the reasons I am loving Secret Wars
