Beat Sha's Pokemon Team

He's beat them now. It's just I completed the game in less that 18 hours. Including beating RED. My friend is battling RED now.

Red is hard as F#@k

It just so happens that that's also a sick nasty team (although obviously I'd have to evolve sneasel to be really effective, since it can't learn Night Slash)

Scizor also happens to have the best type match-up of any pokemon in the game, besides being good as far as stats go.

Yeah. But an Ice Beam will kill them in 1 probably. It does 4x the amount of damage.

Depends on the pokemon's stats, My Dragonite was EV trained with a Calm Nature, as a matter of fact, i used him to beat Candice in Platinum, (Then again level might have played a big part lol_

Infernape (Swords dance, Flare blitz, close combat, mach punch) life orb 
Dragonite (Earthquake, Dragon dance, Fire Punch, Outrage) yache berry 
Dusknoir (Will o wisp, Shadow sneak, Fire punch, pain split) leftovers 
Ninetails (Hypnosis, Nasty plot, Energy ball, Flamethrower) Wide Lens 
Mightyena (Crunch, Facade, Protect, Fire Fang) Toxic orb

You need Pokémon that don't have many weaknesses, and have the capability have learning many techniques.
 
A Slacking with Skill Swap would be good. Then they'll go every 2 turns instead of you.
Have your Pokémon learn a variety of moves.
 
Cover the basic ones.
 
Fire
Grass
Water
Electric
Ice
 
Take Electivire for example
Mine has these

• Earthquake
• Fire Punch
• Ice Punch
• Thunder Punch

• Normal
• Fighting
• Psychic
• Ghost
• Dark

• Shadow Ball
  
• Aura Sphere
• Psychic
• Dragon Pulse

Nice.

For Pokemon with many strengths and few weaknesses (so you can get the 1.5x type bonus), look at Electric, Fighting, and Bug/Steel Pokemon. Electric have 2 super effectives (flying, water) with only one weakness (ground). Fighting have 5 super effectives (normal, ice, rock, dark, steel) and only two weaknesses (flying, psychic). Bug/Steel also have 5 super effectives (grass, psychic, dark, ice, rock) and only one double weakness (fire). The total number of types covered just using moves of the same type as the pokemon is 9. You could probably cover all 17 with the right moves. For instance, if you went with a Machamp, Electivire, and Scizor, you could go:

The move lists give the most coverage possible between all the types (I just spent like 2 hours confirming this, so don't argue with me).
 
EDIT: This list is in response to Sherlock's question. Now, I might not have answered it entirely, since he wants to use Gengar, and Battle Tower, correct me if I'm wrong, only allows 3 pokemon. But you get the idea. I have it all on an excel file as well, so changing it to adjust for such wouldn't be too hard.

All i love to see all the Pokemon trainers coming together ^_^
