Battle of the Week VOTING: Deathstroke vs. Deadpool

@yourneighborhoodcomicgeek Since you're a Deadpool expert, maybe you can offer some reasons on why Wade might beat Slade in this Battle of the Week.

This is a great battle, one that I have been thinking about for awhile. Both of these characters are very similar and the fight would be incredible to watch.

To break down the fight, Slade has an advantage tactically wise, his brain allows him to process and calculate at an elevated rate in comparison to Deadpool. Slade also has better stats in my honest opinion. I have compared feat by feat with people in other battle thread and the consensus is that Slade has slightly better reaction feats. And skill wise, they are VERY close, however wade sometimes has trouble applying himself due to his comedic personality.

Weaponry, Deadpool's magic bag, or endless pocket etc.. Is a big factor, it allows Deadpool to seemingly pull out bazooka's grenades etc.. From essentially out of nowhere, this will play a factor in this fight. Slade weaponry is his promethium sword and Promethium blasting staff, assortment of guns and explosives which he uses consistently. Weapon wise, Wade has a slight advantage with his two swords and bottomless satchel.

Now let's look at healing factor/durability. Wade has one of the best healing factors in all of comics, it allows him to heal from almost any injury. The downside that many people overlook however is how easily he in fact gets KO'ed. He will heal and survive any injury, but he can and will get KO essentially by any of Slade's weaponry.

Slade has volitile promethium armor, and a weaker healing factor, which could play a role in this fight. wade no doubt beats him in the healing department, but Slade has nice durability. From feat to feat, and from what I have seen, it takes more force to knock Slade out. People like Terra couldn't do it even though she can manipulate huge chunks of earth and smash him through walls.

All in all, I think that since Slade's weapons are extremely lethal, such as his sword, explosives, and blasting staff, he can essentially get a KO while Slade's durability will prevent him from going down from anything short of a decapitation or a ton of sword strikes. Slade can take all of Deadpool's ranged weaponry with his armor and healing, while Deadpool can essentially get KO'ed from Slade's blasting staff due to having no armor. And in melee, Slade's slightly better stats, brain enhancement/tactical ability, and equivalent skill should give him the edge there. The best healing factor in the world is meaningless if you get your head blown off by Slade's staff, or get decapitated.

That doesn't mean he wasn't trying. Daredevil was in his way.

Granted deadpool did once hold his own against daredevil and silver sable but even bearing that in mind I don't think his track record against daredevil supports him winning here.

Deathstroke's skill vs Deadpool's insanity. Just too close.

And he still clearly did try to fight daredevil. Agent Preston even commented that it was "this is a world class ass-whupping".

You say he didn't have time but he was aiming at daredevil with his gun instead of the shape shifter he knew was disguised as a cheer leader. If he needed daredevil out of the way and could have beaten him he would have.

Strength: Deathstroke. However,Wade is also superhumanly strong (on panel confirmed,I believe) and has ripped off human heads with utter ease. So it's not exactly like his punches are love taps.

Durability: Deadpool. Slade (with his armor) is incredibly tough and resistant,but I remember Wade taking hits from the Hulk and still being conscious (although he was turned into a puddle of bloody goop IIRC)

Speed: Travel speed goes to Deathstroke,but that means very little in this fight.

Combat Speed: Wade,easily. Deathstroke is superhumanly fast,but Wade has dodged bullets within inches of his face and moves at speeds faster than humans can see (he's not even a blur,he can move faster than their brain can even register his movement). Recently,didn't he run through a hail of bullets in Cable's book? I must go back and look.

Reaction Time: Hm. Not sure. Probably tie,or very close,but I am honestly not sure.

Agility: Change my mind. I'd say Deadpool.

Tactical mind: Deathstroke. No contest. I can see Slade evaluating Deathstroke as they fight,but I am not sure if it will be easy considering how unpredictable Wade is.

Wow, I have to admit, that Iron Fist fight, and that respect thread, were pretty impressive. (He fights IF dressed as DD in the respect thread again, as well).

I see this playing out less like an epic comic book battle and more akin to a Warner Bros. episode of Bugs Bunny fighting Elmer Fudd.

Bugs (Wade) doing his usual schtick of bouncing around like a madman while the super serious Fudd (Slade) attempts in vain to make the insanity fit within his own world.

Thing about those old cartoons though, Elmer never wins because he's not even playing the right game. You cannot account for the whims of a madman... mad bunny... whatever.

I'm going with Deadpool. Be vewwy vewwy qwiet. I'm hunting Weapon Xs.

Good battle and I actually didn't expect it to be the one that you will choose @k4tz. So here are my thoughts now:

This for sure will be one a helluva long fight because both characters first of all are great combatants and great marksmen. This can go to a h2h fight, to a long range fight or to a sword fight. Any of which would be a cool scenario to observe but in the end there can be only one victor and that is Slade Wilson. His enhanced stats and great fighting ability would give him the edge over Wade and will deliver him the win. He can go on to forever to fight Wade and can eventually knock him out or just incapitate him well enough for Wade to just stay down and never go up.

I can go on and on to wrap up each possible scenario but I am just not up for that right now.

No disrespect, but aren't most/all those feat examples from the N52? Not debating pre/post-52 distinctions-- just pointing out that the poll does specify pre-52 Slade, so these images would probably be apocryphal to the actual debate in progress. That's not to say pre-52 Slade couldn't handle these feats, of course. Just saying these may be outside the scope of the discussion at hand.

Deathstroke has him outclassed everywhere except healing factor, but slade is smart enough to know to tie him up.

@kidman560 Domino wasn't aiming at him. Later on in the issue, he mentioned how he and Domino are working together and she shot the guard on purpose so Deadpool could get his gun.

Ah this age old debate. The Merc with the Mouth vs. World's Deadliest Assassin. Even after all this time, I'm still giving Deathstroke the solid win over Deadpool, and here's why:

Physically, Deathstroke has proven to be too much of a powerhouse for Batman or even the Teen Titans to handle. In fact, due to Slade's superb tactical ability, he's been able to take on powerhouses that have physically outclassed him by a large margin. He's said to have the strength of 10 men, and has shown to kick down reinforced steel doors without much effort. Speed-wise, he's mentioned that his reflexes are instantaneous and he can move as fast as he thinks, which is pretty fast considering he has tagged Kid Flash on multiple occasions, dodged Starfire's starbolt as if they were standstill, effortlessly manoeuvred around bullets and deflected bullets and lasers with his sword. He isn't a slouch in the durability department either. He's rocking promethium armour and his healing factor is just as good as Captain America's. The only physical advantage I'd give Wade is his durability. He literally cannot die and is just as hard to put down, which is why this will be such a long and gruesome fight.

In terms of skill, Deadpool is said to be an unpredictable fighter and has used that unpredictability to beat the likes of Taskmaster (who is a very formidable combatant in his own right). However, Deathstroke is also very unpredictable, shown in his encounters with Batgirl (who can read pretty much anyone besides Deathstroke) and his daughter Rose (who has precognition). Slade's physical enhancements alone have enabled him to beat the likes of Batman, give Bronze Tiger a lengthy fight (before Deadshot interfered), and has allowed him the pleasure of toying with Batgirl (a feat very few could replicate). I'm pressed to say Deathstroke is more skilled.

So how does Deathstroke actually secure the victory, you ask? I feel that his combined skill, physicality and tactical ability, coupled with his own personal arsenal would be enough to take Wade out 8/10. He has a sword which split a car in half. He has a blast staff which can one-shot helicopters and he's been able to use it against an all out Terra who was basically rushing him with her Earth based attacks. He has explosive discs which can bust open huge clumps of rubble and stone. He has guns, which he is mighty accurate with, popping targets without even looking. With this much firepower, it won't be hard for Deathstroke to deduce Wade's healing factor and begin using more lethality such as dismembering, decapitation or just blowing Wade apart with his explosive power.

Both of them are proficient H2H fighters and swordsmen. The problem for Slade is Deadpool's unpredictability. Deadpool has a good variety of weapons and some very unorthodox ways of using them. Deathstroke has the superior physical prowess but he's going to approach this fight logically and efficiently and that won't work against Wade. I think Deadpool would win by some insane strategy like using grenades at point blank range.

@renaissanceman: well if it was New52 it's not relevant here because Pre52 DS is being used. Also how does Pre 52 outclass DP in everything beside his brain power?

If Deathstroke could flatline him that would count as a temp KO. He has the arsenal and physicals to do that as well.

Deadpool is a joke character. Deathstroke decapitates him in a instantly and wins for the sake of the rules of this matchup.If they were going to fight until one of them dies for real. I will still go with Deathstroke. Deadpool=squirrel girl.

Those are all New 52 Deathstroke feats, where he has an Nth Metal suit, that increases his durability, and other physicals. This battle is with Pre-new 52 Deathstroke.
