*Want to vote but you don't have an account? Well, what are you waiting for?! Signing up is beyond simple. CLICK HERE to register and then you'll be able to vote in all of our polls and join the countless discussions. Go on, make an account!*

As our latest Character of the Month, Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. that really popular DC hero you might have heard of, will have his abilities put to the test in weekly battles against characters he's never met before. According to the voters, he has what it takes to bring down the current incarnations of Star-Lord and Shredder, but what about Danny Rand, a.k.a. Iron Fist? We've seen Viners suggesting Rand vs. Bruce for several months now, so why not give the people what they want?

To make sure the fight is as balanced as possible, we've increased the starting distance (read the rules!) and yes, you can use pre-New 52 feats for Batman. Will that be enough for him to defeat the Living Weapon or will a glowing fist knock Batman square in his face? Check out the rules, give it some proper thought and then head to the poll!

Match Rules

  • Combatants are in character (aka morals apply).
  • This is a random encounter (aka no prep for either side).
  • They're fighting in a generic downtown city setting. It's unpopulated, at night and all standard city lights remain on. Assume they start roughly 100 feet apart and visible. There's a good amount of cover in the location (parked vehicles, bus stops and such). The entire area is on limits. This means alleys, rooftops, building interiors, the sewer, etc.
  • This is New 52 Batman (aka he has his standard new 52 attire/gear), however, pre-52 combat feats can be used in the debate.
  • Incapacitation, knockout or death all count as elimination. Making a tactical retreat counts as a loss, too.
  • Hey, you know what would be really cool? Treating everyone else in the debate with respect. If you think someone's saying something that just isn't true, go ahead and stick to the facts to point out why. There's no need at all to drop insults just because you disagree with someone. Seriously, this is just talking about a fictional fight, there's no need for immaturity and mudslinging.
  • If you think the poll isn't going how it should, making an informative post about why a character is being underestimated and spreading the word is far more useful than complaining. Just saying.
  • One more thing: you don't need to write an essay to have your post highlighted in Friday's article. Sometimes concise posts can be way more effective than a flood of paragraphs.

Check the homepage this Friday for an updated article with the following:

  • Thoughts from the staff.
  • Viner Arguments for both characters (can't include scans and must be in the poll thread).
  • If we're lucky, blurbs from industry talent.

Shouldn't the Chi power of iron fist give Danny the edge in terms of raw power output? but then again, this is Batman so i have no clue... Cool fight =D

#2 Posted by Pantherman (246 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Fist stomps. Not even close, just put it this way if this fight were real which combatant would you rather be?

#3 Edited by christianrapper (1096 posts) - - Show Bio

ironfist. the chi settles this

#4 Edited by deadcool_XD (37 posts) - - Show Bio

Rather interesting fight. Both have extreme discipline and are master of marshal arts as well as judo, and so on. Batman has the stronger armor but iron fist has the stronger weapon. The fact that this takes place at night is Batman's advantage and also that it is in the city an area where batman is more adapted to than iron fist. In mental strength they are equal but Batman possesses a much greater intelligence. Now usually I would go and say Batman would lose according to the rules because he would retreat to the bat cave to study Iron Fists weaknesses but the rules state that they are in a city not particularly Gotham so I cannot make that assumption. The way I determine who wins this battle is to compare Iron Fist with a villain very much like him Ra's al Ghul. The immortal who posses amazing marshal arts techniques. Because Batman can beat Ra's I think he can beat Iron Fist.

#5 Posted by medulaoblaganda (914 posts) - - Show Bio

iron fist wins this already.

#6 Posted by Juiceboks (8919 posts) - - Show Bio

@deadcool_xd Batman has more in common with Ra's than Danny does. Danny isn't immortal..and Bruce is also a martial artist. Just because Bruce can beat Ra's does not in anyway equate to Bruce beating a completely different character with objectively MUCH grander feats.

#7 Posted by deadcool_XD (37 posts) - - Show Bio

some people think the stronger weapon stronger superhero. I think a lot of people forgot to take in consideration the smarts and armor of batman.

#8 Posted by redwingx (820 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Fist wins this easily.

But Batman will win cuz why not.

#9 Posted by TheAmazingImmortalMan (3073 posts) - - Show Bio

Immortal Iron Fist FTW

#10 Posted by Tony_Shark (474 posts) - - Show Bio

Didn't Iron Fist destroy a helicarrier with a single punch?

#11 Posted by Iron_Turtle (583 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Fist quite handily.
Danny Rand's mastery of chi is a huge game breaker. He has forced bullets out of his body and forced his body to heal from gunshot wounds though willpower and chi.

#12 Posted by CaptainGuts (253 posts) - - Show Bio

Yeah Danny only needs one punch and bats is jelly

#13 Posted by Hydrotecknics (1 posts) - - Show Bio

Gotta go Iron Fist in this one. His skills along with his chi should get the job done.

#14 Posted by SHAZAM117 (2966 posts) - - Show Bio

Danny

#15 Posted by Pantherman (246 posts) - - Show Bio

@deadcool_xd:

That doesn't mean much when he can't move fast enough to stop or counter Danny. He can't even run away fast enough to gain a stealth advantage because Danny will be right on him any time he tries to scamper off.

A punch from Danny going to be like getting hit with grenades and unless Batman is wearing PIS armor supreme.....he loses badly.

#16 Posted by DoctorThomasElliot (273 posts) - - Show Bio

Rand takes this, Wayne is a great fighter but Danny has way more knowledge of martial arts and power to win.

Iron Fist for the win.

Danny would stomp Bruce

#20 Posted by Guardiandevil83 (5573 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Fist. I would go so far to say that he is better without the chi.

The issue at hand most is that neither Bats or IF would kill the other. So it's cool that IF could drop a helicarrier w/ 1 punch, but he would rather die than strike another human with that much power. Batman is the same- he can hold his own versus a kryptonian who by all accounts is a god- but he won't cross the line. However, I believe Batman is more comfortable pushing that line back a few inches. While Iron fist would take his time evaluating Batman's fighting ability, Batman's greatest weapon is his mind. He would already have a file on IF and know to knock him out quickly. This fight is over before it begins. Batman for the win.

Iron Fist

iron fist!!

#25 Posted by Thatlyn Yoaeg'ill'rymmin (103 posts) - - Show Bio

The real point here is that Iron Fist is not only a brawler. With is CHI, he can blast down an Hellcarrier, but also resist do the explosion of a train charged with bomb, he can hypnotize and mesmerize person like a Jedi, he can create illusion [even if usually dosen't do that, he has learned the trick from the Book of Iron Fist], he can heal itself, and can also SHOT is CHI as a blast [I've see him take down various Hydra soldier using shard of a broken cell phone charged with CHI, Gambit-style!]

And in addiction... he has mastered very usefull Martial Artist tecnique, and also the incredible deductive ability of Batman may be fooled by is combat style: using the Drunk Monkey Tecnique, Iron Fist has beaten Mr. X, that is a Superb Martial Artist AND a TELEPATH, but he can't predict the "drunken attack" of Iron Fist

And also, Iron Fist has a very Bat-like modus operandi for stealth and acrobatic attack! And usually, even if he has a code against killing and lethal force, Danny usually dosen't have a code against dirty fight or trick...

The only thing that Bruce can use against Iron Fist are his money [also, higher of that of Danny Rand, but also him is quite rich] and is long time preparation combat tecnique... that is impossible in this scenario.

On a very long term battle, Bats may win the last battle [not the second and not even the third, since he must discover one after the other all the use of CHI... ] ...but in a single random fight, Bats must flee or find itslef ko or mesmerized!

Danny for the win

Key word is 'no prep time'.

Iron Fist in a close one.

#27 Posted by DarthAznable (6940 posts) - - Show Bio

Batman if Danny has no chi.

Danny if he has chi.

#28 Posted by ThanosIsMad (2220 posts) - - Show Bio

This will be a hard fight until Danny gets tired of it and hits Batman with a kamehameha. As soon as he starts to feel threatened and starts to amp himself up, Iron Fist will take it. And since he'd be fighting Batman, it wouldn't take long for him to feel threatened.

#29 Posted by CosmicOldGuy (56 posts) - - Show Bio

Batman has such wonderful gear and usually stocks goodies for all possible scenarios (better ones if he preps, but this battle is a No-Prep battle). He also is a master at un-armed combat and he seems knowledgeable about peoples forms and most like identifies the counters for that particular form. Danny's style (unless it has changed) is a martial art from Kylun [sic], along with a host of other fighting styles. That art will be unknown to Bruce, so no advantage to him that he can find a counter move/block/punch. What will kick in on both sides is Chi vs standard Bat-Gadgets. Can Bruce survive the Chi? Can Danny survive the Bat-Gadgets? Right now, I would have to side with Danny's Chi as the deciding factor as it will take Bruce by surprise. If no Chi, Bruce takes this after a tough street battle.

#30 Posted by SlimJ87D (9893 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Fist with chi would easily beat Bruce. If anyone wants to share some of his recent showings, they're in my latest images.

#31 Posted by AlKusanagi (605 posts) - - Show Bio

But Batman knows every martial art ever which means he already knows everything Iron Fist knows and hes just choozing not 2 uz his super saiyin powaz!111!!over9000!!

Seriously though, Danny takes this. Shang Chi vs Bats may be a little more even, but even then I'd side with Chang.

Id have to say iron fist, danny took down a hellicarier for god sake!!!

Fist wins this.. but its Batman so...

#37 Posted by xDOOMGUYx (6 posts) - - Show Bio

I wish the Batman could somehow win this because I think he's so much cooler, but with Iron fist's crazy chi advantage I don't see how it's possible.

#38 Posted by Mrfuzzynutz (1057 posts) - - Show Bio

The only time Batman would beat Iron Fist is after multiple encounters of Danny kicking his ass, and Bruce develops a way to counter his CHI. Otherwise Danny is just more skilled and would win their first meeting.

@mattknowsbest: This is a random encounter Batman prep doesn't count here.

#40 Posted by mattknowsbest (25 posts) - - Show Bio

@avilon: You read it. This isn't some guy with a rodent fetish- It's BATMAN. The world's greatest detective, tactition and martial artist. He is always prepared, even for "random" encounters with enimies from another universe. If he is unprepared then you might as well take away Iron Fist's sparkly hand tricks

#41 Edited by themongoose (381 posts) - - Show Bio

Batman loses this fight to one of my favorites Iron fist !

#43 Posted by Cgoodness (4527 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron Fist and Bats can rival each other in skill, but i doubt Bats gear will give him a advantage over IFs Chi and mid tier powerhouse striking abilities

Yeah, like he was always prepared for Deathstroke every time they fought...oh, wait...he wasn't and isn't always magically prepared for random encounters with foes...

@mattknowsbest: Read the rules of the scenario, he has not meet iron fist before so he cannot be prepped for this encounter. How can he be prepped to fight some one he has never met before? He is magically going to know how Iron fist Chi works or that Iron fist even has Chi? He is going to know about how this guy fights? I love Batman too but this is just not one of his nights :(

#48 Posted by Joker13CSC (145 posts) - - Show Bio

Iron-Fist gets this win, but as to a battle suggestion I think Batman vs Gambit would be good.

#49 Posted by NukeA6 (473 posts) - - Show Bio

Batman is way out of his league. Iron Fist took down a dragon and had some bullet-timing feats. That's without chi. With chi, he has one-shotted the helicarrier. Seriously, Iron Fist stomps. Try pitting him on Cassandra Cain so that maybe he might have a better fight (even though I think he would beat her too).

#50 Edited by Alpha (7331 posts) - - Show Bio

I hate to give this to Batman but his skill is slightly greater than Danny's in my opinion. Batman gave Karate Kid a run and has match his skill against the best in DC. He even lasted a while against The Sensei. Danny Rand acrobatic I believe it to be better and his Iron Fist is a definite game changer. Danny seemed outclassed in skill by Cap and even Wolverine showed a thing or two during the New Avengers run. Danny could win but if I have ot pick a definite winner, I say Batman

I suggested battle would be against Winter Soldier
