Battle of the Week: Batman and Robin vs. Daredevil and Elektra

Damian Wayne, our latest Character of the Month, has one win (vs. Hit-Girl) and one loss (vs. Raphael) in our Battle of the Week segment. For his third match -- his penultimate one -- we wanted to spice things up a bit and have someone fight by his side. Now, we could have been mean and had him team-up with someone he's not the biggest fan of (e.g. Tim Drake or Jason Todd), but considering the little dude was beat up in his last fight, we thought it would be nice to have his father by his side for this one. Will the two Waynes overcome their opponents from Marvel? Daredevil, the skilled martial artist with superb agility and reflexes, and Elektra, the swift and deadly assassin, have found themselves in quite a fight.

We all know Batman's combination of skill and gear means he can hold his own in a thrilling fight against either of these opponents, but what about Damian? How will he fare against his opponent and what kind of distraction will that create for the Dark Knight? If Daredevil or Elektra take down Bruce's son, how will that impact the Dark Knight's actions? Which side do you think will win? Really give this one some proper thought before casting your vote. Also, read the rules! Seriously, they provide important details like where the fight takes place and how far apart these two teams begin.

Match Rules

• Combatants are in character. This means their usual set of morals apply.
• This is a random encounter (no prep for either side) and both sides have standard gear. Both sides have no immediate knowledge of their opponents.
• This is the standard versions of all the characters.
• They're fighting in a generic downtown city setting. It's unpopulated, at night and all standard city lights remain on. Assume they start roughly 20 feet apart and visible. However, there is a good amount of cover in the location (parked vehicles, bus stops and such) and the entire area is on limits (alleys, rooftops, building interiors, the sewer, etc).
• Incapacitation, knockout, or death all count as elimination. Making a tactical retreat counts as a loss, too. "What's a tactical retreat?" It's leaving the fight with the intention of not returning to the battle in the immediate future. Going to another spot in the environment to catch your breath for a moment or for a tactical advantage is not a tactical retreat.
• Hey, you know what would be really cool? Treating everyone else in the debate with respect. If you think someone's saying something that just isn't true, go ahead and stick to the facts to point out why. There's no need at all to drop insults just because you disagree with someone. Seriously, this is just talking about a fictional fight, there's no need for immaturity and mudslinging.
• If you think the poll isn't going how it should, making an informative post about why a character is being underestimated and spreading the word is far more useful than complaining. Just saying.
• One more thing: you don't need to write an essay to have your post highlighted in Friday's article. Sometimes concise posts can be way more effective than a flood of paragraphs.

I think DD and Elektra take this pretty handily, especially since it's a straight up fight, I might post more later, pretty tired right now.

Oh man this is a good one Gregg, major kudos for coming up with it. I'm leaning towards Daredevil and Elektra atm but I'll wait for more arguments before coming up with something. However, Damian is a much more weak link compared to the well rounded ability and teamwork of Team Marvel.

I'd want to say DD and Elektra, but the Dynamic Duo's got sonics out the wazoo.

How would you know if you don't try? I personally edge it to Daredevil and Elektra too. Although, Elektra really does need more exposure on the Vine. I've underrated her, but she'd be able to take Damien. I think Dick Greyson would have faired better.

Hm... seems like it could be an uphill battle for Batman and Robin. Although Robin's size and age could be an advantage if Daredevil or Elektra underestimate him.

Indeed. The real point of these weekly battles is to have fun speculating and debating, not so much about who wins the poll.

Because it's Batman. Unless it's a obvious stomp he's too popular lose a battle, especially with all the hype around Robin's return. Also have you seen the Dardevil battles around the Vine these days? It's depressing how downplayed he is now.

Whether Robin starts out fighting Daredevil or Elektra, he is going to be KO'd, but not quickly.

Whoever starts out fighting Batman, whether DD or Elektra, is also getting KO'd, but not quickly.

That's assuming they immediately pair off into isolated 1v1 battles. If that does happen, it will come down to Batman Vs. [whomever fought Robin], and Batman wins that match up either way. Bruce has more stamina than any fighter here, not to mention more durability, more skill, greater strength, and a lot more gear versatility. DD's radar sense isn't going to offer much advantage against either opponent, in my opinion. They are too smart and too well-trained.

If this becomes more of a teamwork battle, I'd say Batman and Robin have the advantage there as well; I feel like they should be more used to fighting together as a cohesive unit.

Nah, he's not beating daredevil. At first thought I don't see how he beats elektra either. I don't know anything about him other than the animated movie where he did a number on deathstroke (I'm sure that's not canon). He was a nuisance and undisciplined then. Has he changed in the comics?

As of now, I'd say I'm leaning towards team Marvel, but I could certainly be swayed before I vote.

Honestly, I think Damian being present might benefit Bruce. If he knows his son is in danger, he might be more motivated just to whip out a gadget and be done with it.

Robin is a major weak link and Batman isn't beating both DD and Elektra.

I'll admit I know a lot more about Batman than Daredevil, but I think Batman and Robin would definitely win. They might be close to equals in terms of hand-to-hand combat, and yes, Daredevil would be able to easily counter Batman's hiding in the dark, but I think the dynamic duo's technology puts them ahead. True, Batman wouldn't be able to fully prepare for the confrontation, but I still think his gadgets could put him ahead

I could also understand an argument of this hurting Batman, since he has to worry about his son, instead of just doing what he does best, but what you are offering is definitely a probable outcome as well. Something to consider at least.

Any chance you have instances of this happening? In the other battles so far, everyone always talked about how Batman has had to rush in to save Damian quite a few times, so I'm assuming something exactly like what you are saying has happened already before.

I think the edge goes to Daredevil and Elektra. I don't think I've seen any human in the DC universe move as fast as them, other than Dick. Agility is going to be a problem for the duo IMO.

DD and Elektra would win. But whats the point of arguing. Batgod already won.

This one I think is almost too close to call, basically each team mirrors each other. You have DD and Batman both very skilled fighters but do not kill (purposely) and then you have Elektra and Damian both deadly trained "ninjas/assassins" with no qualms against killing. In short I think Elektra takes out robin and then she helps DD take out the Batman, I would give it to DD/Elektra 6/10 times which is almost too close to call but gives them the edge.

dare devil and elektra wins this. just because batman is popular that doesn't mean he can't loose. he will loose. street levelers have defeated him on many occasions. elektra will block everything batman throws at him. the match will be very tough.

Dick is just as agile and skilled as Daredevil, if not more so, and that has never prevented Bruce from casually smacking him around for the sport of it.
