Is Grodd really that strong? Are his telepathic powers that great? I know he went up against Martian Manhunter, but was brought down by Superman.

Superman and Martian Manhunter are on the whole other end of the superhero spectrum from Batman and Captain America.

Grodd makes Bats and Cap kill each other. Then because he just rolls that way, he makes Cap and Bane fight to the death, the winner eats the loser before jumping off a cliff. Really suprised the OP must not have accounted for Grodd's VERY impressive TP.
