Gregor Clegane the Mountain (Game of thrones HBO version) has his medieval weapon of choice and Bane (The Dark Knight Rises) has nothing, to even it out a bit. Even though the movie bane seems a lot weaker than the real version.

Takes place as an brawl in an arena with no "hiding in the dark". I´d say Bane has more speed, strength and fighting skill and might be able to close the distance and disarm. Not sure how he would fair if hit by a sword though.

Help me out :)

@mtuske: You really think so ? Others seem to agree as well. I figured bane might be stronger since he broke concrete with his punches and I doubt the Mountain can withstand that?

How about Mountain w sword vs Comic Bane then? All juiced up. Then Bane stomps prolly

Ya'll are crazy.....The Mountain was slow as hell, Bane is faster, better in hand to hand combat and is a master strategist. Even with a sword, The Mountain gets demolished. Gregor was getting handled by Prince Oberyn until he got cocky (which is funny, cuz he's bi, get it?).

@wolverine08: @i_like_swords: Zip tie feat is PiS. It was a single zip tie around both hands. Cops and CIA trained put one around each hand and then over lap them or connect them with a third.

The books say the Mountain's armor is so heavy he's the only man in Westeros who can even walk in it, but then the books also say it's so thick no blade could break it and Oberyn just ignored that on the show. Also that sword is six feet long and usually takes a regular man both hands to wield, but the Mountain doesn't give a sh!t. With the sword Clegane slices Bane up; Bane is faster than Gregor but slower than the Viper, so the Mountain shouldn't have as much of a hard time keeping pace with him.

I really want to say Bane but the Mountain with that sword would be just too much. That is a pretty big sword which under normal circumstances would be wielded by a man with both of his hands which says enough for the Mountain's strenght. Other advantage the sword gives are long range attacks which will cut Bane in half.

So the Mountain has this.

Just a question of curiosity, how different is the mountain in the books? Is the Strength difference really that huge?

The actor who played Clegane in Season 4, Hafthor Bjornsson, is 6'9''; in the books, the Mountain is nearly eight feet tall. I'd say there's a pretty big strength difference but mainly because Clegane is a supporting character who doesn't really have much to do with the plot until he fights Oberyn in Tyrion's trial, so he doesn't show up that much. In the books, the Hound tells Sansa that when his brother shoved his face in the coals as a child, it took the combined strength of three grown men to pull him off even though Gregor was only 12 years old at the time. He's quite probably the strongest man in the entire Game of Thrones universe.

Oh wow, that makes it a bit more impressive that Oberyn held his own against one of the strongest guys in GoT, until of course that head crushing scene. Would you say that the books are worth a read, even if you're watching the show?

Yeah, because there's a lot of lore and backstory about the past of Westeros that the show can't fit into one-hour slots.

Everyone knows why fighting has weight classes right? Boxing, MMA etc? To even our the playing field. Sure a smaller CAN win a fight against a bigger guy. But hand-to-hand combat vs a man far larger than you? It will be tough.

The Mountain(TV Version) is 6'9 and 400lbs, Bane(Movie Version) is big i guess(Tom Hardy is 5'10 who plays him) but they make him bigger in the movie. Bane has better training sure, but the Mountain is just obviously the stronger man. Sure Bane punched concrete, but Batman COULD take his punches in the second fight. The Mountain is literally twice as heavy as Batman and almost a foot bigger.

If he grabs Bane or takes him to the ground it's over. As I'm sure Bane doesn't know much Ju-Jistsu... The Mountain lands one full force punch with 400lbs of weight coming behind it, you are f**ked.

The Mountain wins.

Although Tom Hardy is weaker than the Thor Bjornsonn, in the dark knight rises, they gave bane superhuman strength. So Bane wins.

Without the sword, Bane would wreck him IMO. Far more skilled a fighter and with the strength feats to shatter Gregor's ribs easy.

With the sword it will be a lot harder for Bane to get close, but he still stomps.

Oberyn fodderised him (I'm aware the mountain landed a kick and broke his weapon) while he was holding back and playing to the crowd. He will get no such luxury from Bane.

The main reason for Batman being able to take his punches is because his armour is able to withstand bullets and much more. The other reason is because... HE'S BATMAN!!!

Being big means absolutely nothing. Bane: A highly skilled fighter, very intelligent, master strategist, more coordinated, powerful sense of survival, able to beat the likes Batman. Clegane: A sloppy, uncoordinated, foolish oaf who relies to heavily on his sight of appearance. Also was nearly defeated by a third rate warrior from the GOT verse. Money on Bane, and putting it all in.
