Android 17 vs 18 (Android Saga)

Who is the strongest?

Apparently, I keep hearing Toriyama said 18 was slightly stronger in an interview but couldn't find it besides this image.

Thought 17 was supposed to be a little stronger

and no, he wasn't dead considering even if you count gt, everybody who died had gotten wished back. If you count just z, he's shown in the buu saga, so no, he's not dead

And that "statement" is very clearly fake

17 is stated to be stronger in the manga more then once.

I always got the impression that 18 was stronger in the anime. I think 17 boasted he was the strongest android but he was full of himself

It goes in number 16 strongest then 17 then 18 there was also 13 and he was stronger than them all but he was movie cannon, in GT you have super 17 who is beyond all of them aswell

As someone just said, I believe 16 is far above them both, so neither of them are the "strongest androids" (isn't Cell an Android too? or was he classified as something different?). I always saw as 17 being stronger, but I have no evidence to support that. A coin toss for me until I see Toriyama say it himself (haven't read the manga, but if those claims stand true, then I suppose that's that).

That picture is nothing but hearsay, nowhere has toriyama actually said that, in fact, the manga states 17 is stronger, and two guidebooks also state he's stronger

I don't remember seeing that, even that I have all those books and I have read android arc at least five times. Well I have read finnish edition of manga, but it is also translated from japanese.

Vegeta in Saiyan Saga claims to be the strongest of the universe, yet Frieza and others were well above him. Frieza said to be the strongest of the universe but his father was stronger than him.

And that king cold statement doesn't work considering gohan stated that freeza wasn't at his full strength

Strength wise they're going to be close no matter how you edge it out. In that department it shouldn't make too much of a difference. From there you have to run it down from style. So based on that assumption I'm tipping my hat to Android 17 for the majority, his fight with Piccolo was more impressive then any of 18's bouts in my opinion. He put on a good display of speed if I should say so myself.

@tim_drake4444: i can agree with that, if anything his battle with piccolo made it seem like he had a slight speed advantage, while piccolo had a slight strength advantage
