I don't know how powerful Alan Scott is. Can he handle Black Adam?
Alan Scott vs Black Adam
Doubtful, especially if you read WWIII after 52. Maybe, give Alan with the full Starheart power like in the recent JLA arc.
The events in WWIII are a poor indicator of the outcome of this battle because Adam had an amp. That said, I may give this to Alan, but I could be wrong.
" That said, I may give this to Alan, but I could be wrong. "you would not. Alan is superior to Adam, he's even more powerful then any GL and a lightspeeder
" Doubtful, especially if you read WWIII after 52. Maybe, give Alan with the full Starheart power like in the recent JLA arc. "It was during 52, not after.
Alan Scott - along with John Stewart, Guy Gardner, Yz, and a few others that I've forgotten - weren't shown in their standard level of power. It was a case of PIS or WIS (I can't decide). Black Adam versus some of those guys I can believe, but not all of them.
I am not familiar with Alan Scott's standard levels. I read JSA for awhile and I was not impressed.
This is reminding me of the DCU Online clip where BA takes out GL with a SHAZAM...not relevant just cool
" The events in WWIII are a poor indicator of the outcome of this battle because Adam had an amp. That said, I may give this to Alan, but I could be wrong. "nope
" Wait is he technically Sentinel again right now in the current run? Seeing the Starheart amped him up again. "technically he's been sentinel ever since he first became sentinel. he took back the name Green Lantern and refashioned a ring but hasn't needed a lantern since the late 80's. There've been numerous times when he's depicted as just a ring user since the upgrade but just as many where he doesn't use it. Similar there have been some instances when he's showed lower power levels in this time. John's retcon on this during and prior his run was that he is living green flame and is basically what he believes himself to be. If he feels young and vital that's how he looks if he believes he has a wood weakness than he does etc. His normal power levels are due to the "Green flame" not the starheart. The Green flame is only a former part of the Starheart (i.e when the Guardians collected "chaotic energy {magic} most was evil, but there was a little good magic in there also {the green flame} which broke itself away to become the meteor that would be forged into the lamp {i.e Aladin's if you go by his origin retell in ASS} and eventually the Lantern) So normally his power is the Green flame which was originally a small percentage of the Starheart, naturally when he get "possessed by the Starheart he's much more powerful.
Bottom line Black Adam takes this (as much as it pains me to say) WWIII aside where as others have said he was amped up he's also taken the JSA early on in the 1999 rune (somewhere between issue 5 and 8 IIRC). There was no amped power level for BA in that story and this was definitely when Alan was portrayed at Sentinel levels (not Starheart levels)
" The events in WWIII are a poor indicator of the outcome of this battle because Adam had an amp."I still can't get past this. People are saying he had an amp. Others are saying he didn't have one.
Personally, I don't think it makes sense that Adam runs through all of those people combined in WWIII, but in books written before that, all it took was the JSA. Before that, Captain Marvel was doing it by himself.
I think Black Adam's power fluctuates depending on the story.
" @Silver2467 said:I have to agree with that. His power level does fluctuate more than even pre COIE Superman (who at peak levels could sneeze and destroy a galaxy or drag multiple planets on a chain). Still his recent showings 9at least prior to the returned Shazam turning him to stone after he gave back his power) had him able to defeat several JSAers including Alan. In fact in JSA 24/5 (I'll check the # later) he beat Alan in a single panel, followed by Powergirl in two panels ." " @beatboks1:He's my fav' character by far (like anyone has any trouble working that out). He is basically the reason I've collected comics for over 30 years ever since i saw him on this cover. After which i bought the preceding issues (as many as I could anyway), and pretty much everything since.
Awesome thanks for explaining dude, I am going to start reading more on Alan Scott he defintely intrigues me."
Awesome cover! would you recommend starting as far back as say; ' The Golden Age Green Lantern Archives, Vol. 1' or should I read the JSA archives? Or should I read the more modern stuff? I was impressed with the recent run although I admit I was reading it solely about Jade coming back to begin with, Alan stole the show later on.
