We haven't really seen DD fight with his sticks other than against Nobu, and even then he wasn't fighting someone with a sword or as skilled as Achilles.

Achilles takes it.

With a sword and shield, the most skilled fighter in his world, and with superhuman stats, Achilles destroys DD. DD won't get past the sword and shield to attack Achilles, and will most likely lose his arms and legs during his attack. On the defensive side DD doesn't have a way to block Achille's sword that's swung with superhuman strength and expert skill, he'll be ducking and evading until he eventually gets hit and killed. I don't think DD's sticks will be able to stop Achille's sword strikes.

achilles. he lived in a much harder time period, has armor, has a shield.

also i think he tore through fodder with far far greater ease, stopping even an arrow by just slinging his shield backwards without looking.

Achilles meleed an army without a scratch. How's this for perfection...until Paris shot him, Achilles hadn't had blow landed on him. That is how ridiculous Achilles is. DD dies.

I'll say Matt.

He's capable of blocking Achilles sword with just his armor, his weapons (while far less lethal) are overall superior to a sword due to versatility, utility and ranged potential. He's also physically better (in basically everything I think) and the more skilled martial artist.

@buildhare: I don't think he is more skilled. And Achilles' combat awareness is surreal. And batons against a shield are useless. Achilles is also wearing armor...it's kind of pointless to use a lightweoght bludgeon against that. You need a point or some weight.

Did Achillies even demonstrate skill outside of straight sword fighting? I know he's tremendously skilled with a blade or spear, but actual martial arts?

It's not anywhere near Murdock's though. Even if we assumed Matt couldn't hurt him through his armor (which is severely unlikely given his usual striking) he still has exposed limbs, his neck and potentially his helmet if he removes it.

Failing all that, why couldn't he just tie him up with his clubs like he did to Nobu?

Achilles doesn't need martial arts to beat Daredevil. That kind of thing would only come into play in the event of a disarm and even then Achilles showed decent h2h skills while sparring with Patroclus.

OP specified no shield cuz with it Achilles basically just has to keep daredevil in front of him to win.

I doubt Daredevil's armor will take sword or spear strikes. Matt on the other hand is basically limited to swinging for the upper arms, thighs, and head. Daredevil, on the other hand, isn't cracking Achilles's armor with his batons.

Achilles has a short sword. It's small enough to cut ropes while Achilles is tied up.
